Social Anxiety Treatments

Millions of Americans have a problem of Social Anxiety, in some cases is more severe than others, but if it is not treat it with a proper treatment it can get worse to the point that the person gets panic attacks and even suicide due to severe depression.

A person that lives with social anxiety is in a constant stress thinking of what is the next person that he will have to meet and what is he going to say, they are so afraid that when they actually see the person and need to talk they shake their hands, sweat, have palpitations and even panic attacks.

There have been some studies on the proper way to eliminate this mental disorder and now there are a few treatments available that can make a big difference in the life of a person.

There are two different kinds of treatment

  • Psychological Treatment

  • Medication Treatment

Psychological Treatments

The most common and effective is "Cognitive Behavioral Therapy" and "Cognitive Group Behavioral Therapy", they can be very effective in some cases, however in very severe cases a medical expert might recommend medication treatments to produce more dramatic results.

The cognitive Behavioral therapy will help you change your thought patterns and thus change the way you think about the fears you have, you will no longer have that irrational fear of social interactions. This is a process and requires some patience and effort on your part. Sometimes a trauma or a dramatic event in our life caused changes in our beliefs that now produce social anxiety, if those events and causes are identify they can be changed so you no longer have those fears.

Medication Treatment

There are different kinds of medications that a doctor might recommend, sometimes is the combinations of medications that cause the most greater effect. Usually medications are used as an alternative to methods such as psychotherapy.

There are 2 kids of antidepressants that are used those are Selective Serotonin Reuptake inhibitors(SSRIs) and Serotonin norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors(SNRIs)

One of the most common antidepressants used is Paxil Paroxetine which is a (SSRIs). However some studies say that in up to 85% of the patients with social anxiety and phobias is ineffective.

The truth is that those antidepressants help reduce a few symptoms related to social anxiety such as anxiety and depression, but will not eliminate the problem in the long term and have some side effects such as nausea, sexual behavior changes, headaches and insomnia.

There are many more drug medications like Prozac, Paxil CR, Lexapro, Celexa. Also MAOIs "Nardil which is said to be the most powerful antidepressant for social phobia.

Conclusion

Those are the most common treatments for social anxiety disorder, i encourage you to consult with a psychotherapist first, apply cognitive behavioral therapy and then if you need medications in a severe case then ask for a prescription to your doctor.

The most important point is that you need to find help as soon as possible, dont let you life pass on without making the most out of it, you have the power to be what you want to be just take action and find help.

Buspirone (byoo-SPYE-rone) is used to treat certain anxiety disorders or to relieve the symptoms of anxiety. However, buspirone usually is not used for anxiety or tension caused by the stress of everyday life. It is not known exactly how buspirone works to relieve the symptoms of anxiety.

I found this info about this drug here http://druglist.onlinedrugs4u.com/?cat=26
