How trying to Impress affects people with Social Anxiety

People that have social anxiety have an extreme fear of being judged by others and want to give a good impression of themselves to they can be liked by everyone else. The problem is that no body is perfect and you dont have to be liked by everyone so is not important to impress anyone.

There could be different situations where you might want to impress your friends, your co workers, your family, an audience or anyone else that you just meat. However trying to hard impress other people will create you many frustrations and anxiety will be an issue each time you meet some else that you want to impress.

The truth is that you just have to be what you are in the way that you feel most comfortable, you have your own personality, values and beliefs, you dont have to impress anyone, some will like you and some will not. As long as you are not hurting anyone dont worry about what they will think of you, if you are doing a project do your best, if you are playing a sport do your best if you are in any social activity do your best to be friendly but dont try to be the funniest guy in the room or the smartest guy or dont try to be perfect just good enough.

The problem with trying to impress other people is that you will want to be perfectionist and it will create many insecurities, self doubt and anxiety in your self.

I was guilty of that my self, i wanted to be one of the guys that talked a lot with girls and be fun, however i dindnt have those skills so i was really frustrated trying to impress and not being able to do it, that caused a lot of frustrating in me, until i understood that i dont have to impress anyone, i can be my self many people will like me and other wont, but it doesnt matter.

Social phobia requires effort on your part to overcome it, you have to be willing to go out and talk to people that you would never talk to. Facing your fears will make you stronger and give your more confidence on your self.

One of the best ways to overcome your problems with social anxiety is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy this is great to understand the reasons of your fears and negative beliefs and change it to positive ones. When you change your beliefs then you will start to improve and stop trying to impress other people to feel better.
