Not all bloggers are familiar with social bookmarking, since some of them do blogging only as a hobby and do not really care about getting a good page rank or driving traffic to their blogs. A social bookmarking tool is essential if you intend to increase traffic to your blog. This tool can be placed in your blog and will be useful to visitors of the blog who might want to bookmark a particular blog post.

So if you are a certified blogger and you are interested to add this tool in your blog, do not feel intimidated because it is actually easy to do. Just follow these simple tips or what I would call a social bookmarking tutorial and the tool will be in your blog in an instant.

First, look for a site which provides a social bookmarking tool that involves several social bookmarking sites. The more sites they have included in their tool, the better. Take note however that you need several sites involved but it does not necessarily mean that you will also place all those sites in your tool which you will place in your blog. Select the bookmarking site which you think is popularly used. Examples of these are: digg, delicious, stumbleupon, techonorati, facebook, furl, bibsonomy, delirious, misterwong, blinklist, backflip, faves, connotea, clipmarks, claimid, linkagogo, spurl, google, yahoomyweb, buddymarks and newsvine. These are just examples and does not necessarily mean that these are the only sites that you will select.

Second, after selecting the bookmarking sites, which is usually done by checking a box, generate a script or hmtl code by clicking on the box provided and copy the code. Save a copy of the code in your pc by saving it in a notepad.

Third, paste the code after every blog post that you make. The purpose of saving the code is for you to have an easy access to it and to copy it and paste it after every new blog post that you make. It is advisable to place the tool after every post since each post is entirely different and visitors to your blog may want to bookmark only a particular post and not your entire blog.

In as simple as one-two-three, you are able to place a very important tool in your blog which will benefit not only your blog visitors but also your blog itself. Every time visitors bookmark your blog, they use keywords and tags when bookmarking and they are also able to share their bookmarks publicly, which will work to benefit traffic for your blog every time it is searched in the different search engines.

For an online marketer, the purpose of placing a social bookmarking tool in a blog is not merely to wait for other people to make the first move and bookmark their blog. What they usually do is bookmark their own posts every time they make a new one and the tool makes it easier for them to perform social bookmarking.
