59
Social networking web sites are growing fast in terms of internet audience share. According to John Burbank, CEO of Nielsen, social networking has become a fundamental part of the global online experience. More than 65% of internet users visit social networking sites. They are indeed gaining more and getting better.
The chart above shows the comparison of growth among well known social
networking web sites. The data used comes from data I found from The
Nielsen Company. Even though the graph shows only 7% on Twitter, it
still has the largest growth over the year with 736.09%. With a
staggering 75.4 million of unique visitors, Facebook gained the number
1 slot of the best social networking site in the U.S. Myspace is now
gaining its visitors the past month with 12.2m.
Social
networking has indeed made a strong foothold in internet. It has grown
so fast that it has gained 68.4% in global reach in the month of Feb 09
overtaking personal e-mail only having 64.8%. It’s no doubt that social
networking web sites will continue to make its global achievements in
the years to come.
