Among the possibilities that the Internet provides us with are the social networking sites for the interaction and representation of emotional relationships or professional. Responsible for the exchange of ideas between people with similar interests, participation in these networks is growing daily. Sites like Twitter, Orkut, and Facebooks hit daily record of hits, and many managers are concerned about this.

Some managers believe the ban. They argue that such environments produce low productivity, which in some cases may be true, but what these managers do not realize is the benefit that such environments may provide their employees and consequently the company.

Adopt safety measures is never too much, especially with respect to data and company information, but we can not simply close the eyes of our employees to the world. As soon as we block access to these sites, just assuming that there is a divide between the personal and professional lives of employees, which in most cases is not true.

We can also say that idleness at work is not so recent. Probably if our employees can not use social networks, can walk the halls of the company or read newspapers and magazines, which, following the same point of view, also would result in decreased productivity.

The worst thing is that in this way, managers are cutting off your picture talent. New players, identified today as members of "Generation Y", use these environments as tools for development and exchange of information. In most cases, we can find faster solutions to a problem in internet forums than reading manuals or standards.

The moment is the "knowledge", we must not only invest heavily in processes and equipment, but also in people. Rather than ban is to create clever ways to utilize the resources that the world offers us.
