There are plenty of popular social networks online like Myspace, Facebook, Friendster and Tagged. The list goes on and on. Everyone seems to have their favorite place to socialize online. What's really neat though is smaller communities are being created for a particular niche or group of people.

For instance, people who love anime or cosplay can now find social networks online specifically for anime and cosplay fans. While it is great to be in anime and cosplay groups on the larger social networks, I think it's awesome that anime and cosplay fans can hang out in a social network based on their love an appreciation of the world of anime and cosplay!

My four older children have been into anime and cosplay for years now. They have even attended some of the anime conventions here in Orlando, Florida. They are real excited about the Megacon conventiion being held this weekend. It's a three day event but my kids always feel like it ended to soon.

During one of my many social networking explorations, I discovered a few social networks for anime and cosplay fans. I thought I would share my finds with you. Hope you enjoy. Please feel free to leave a comment and share your favorite anime or cosplay social network or forum.

Naruto Buzz is a social network for fans of Naruto. Members can send messages, create profiles, visit the forums, chat, instant message one another, shop in the cosplay store and so much more.

MyAnimeList is an anime and manga community that introduces you to people, anime, manga, and helps you organize your collections.

Anime Kasei, the social networking site for anime otaku! Looking to build a name in the anime community? Here is the place to start! Connect with people that are like you instead of targeting a big general crowd

Soul Society-Bleach Social Network is a social network for Bleach anime fans. Members can create a profile, blog, message and view the featured video of the week.

Cosplay, which comes from the words "costume" and "play", is a popular activity where fans dress up as characters from anime, manga, sci-fi, fantasy and video games. Cosplay Island is a social networking and portfolio site for cosplayers living in the UK.

COSSPACE is a social network to connect anime and cosplay fans worldwide. Search, create and share photos, galleries,blogs, events and so much more.

I was only able to find two cosplay social networks on Ning, Anime Underground and AALikeThese2.  Not very many, but when I searched for anime social networks on Ning, I got much better search results. In fact, there are a total of three pages of anime social networks created on Ning. The cool thing about Ning is you can always create your own social network if you can't find one you like. You can create your social networks for free on Ning but if you are interested in making money with ad placements then you would need to upgrade.

Forums are nice way to meet and socialize with other people online if you aren't really into the whole social networking scene.

Wikia has a couple of interesting anime and manga wikis in the works but I noticed there wasn't a wiki for cosplay yet.
