Why Not Embrace Socialism?

The halls of conservatism are imploding as conservatives of all walks gasp in amazement at what appears to be the US's sprint to socialism. War has been declared on the Obama Administration's agenda to create a socialist state - per conservatives. Why is there such anger? Why are conservatives bent out of shape? Why not socialism?

Socialism is the dream of most poor and middle class families. After all, a socialist government ensures fairness. I recently heard a caller on a talk show say that it is wrong that some people do better in school and consequently have a better life than others. Socialism will certainly end that. Socialism will ensure equality.

Why should some people work hard all their lives to achieve wealth, invest some of that wealth to create businesses and opportunities for others, while others struggle from paycheck to paycheck? That's not fair. No one person or group should be allowed to move so far ahead and enjoy a comfortable life - nonetheless through hard work and sweat - while others barely make it. Socialism ensures that does not happen.

Wealth should be equally distributed, per socialism. Everyone should have access to all the same luxuries of life - whether or not they are willing to work for it. Why should some people have access to healthcare, while others - including illegal immigrants, people who do not want it, people who do not position themselves to obtain it - are denied this right?

The role is government is to ensure that whether or not we want to do anything about it, all areas of our lives should be provided for. The government must control our education system, how we buy automobiles, how we spend our money, how we invest, how we obtain a mortgage, whether or not we want to learn a skill, etc. As Americans we unable to make the right decisions that will ensure that our families are provided for and therefore we need a Nanny-government to ensure that the kids behave, assignments are done, everyone eats, everyone shares what they have and wealth is shared equally among all.

This is the face of socialism.

How can anyone desire anything else? How can those wicked, wealthy people and companies not see that this is the best thing for our country? How can we in good conscience ignore the fact that so many fail in school, so many are poor and so many have no health insurance?

Why not socialism?

Simple. This is America. The land of the free and the home of brave. This is where everyone is free to pursue - this is key - their own happiness. The United States of America was not created for the government to hand every family the tools they need to succeed. The US was created with an offering of individualism. Every person can, using the right tools, achieve greatness in this country. No, it is not wrong that some people work hard and accumulate wealth. That is a good thing. It is a good thing that companies are free to innovate and compete to bring the best products to all Americans. It is fine that companies are profitable because if there were not, many more of us would be unemployed. What country would we have then?

Do not misinterpret what I am saying. It is sad that so many Americans are poor and have no health insurance. And yes, it is good for the rich to give back - most already do - to help the less fortunate. However, it is not the government's job to tell people what to do with their wealth. Americans are the most generous people in the world. No other country comes close to helping and contributing to worthy causes at home and abroad. Americans do not need the President Obama and Congress to legislate what happens to our assets.

Here is a shocker to many - the main role of government is to protect the United States from internal and external threats. Really?

There is no denying that the government should assist in other areas. However, our Republic was never created to empower the Presidency, Congress, or the Judiciary to dictate and plan our lives from we wake up until we go to sleep. This is preposterous!

Socialism? No! No! No!

Socialism in America in the News

  • Can Obama Stop America's Gas-Guzzling Days?Free Internet Press27 hours ago

Never before has a U.S. government been as serious in its warnings against the dangers of climate change as the Obama administration. But Americans are divided: Half of them regard climate protection policies as socialist, and half want to save the world. Can Obama make America go green?

Hopefully many other Americans are also concerned about what is going on in our country.

Please wake up America. Unfettered overuse of the U.S. government check book and U.S. government credit card (treasury obligations) is generating $14 trillion of taxpayer debt and rising. It is our debt. You and I and our posterity are on the hook to pay it back.
