Society Of Mutual Admiration
54Dogs and Cats
The mornings when I wake up with and see smiley face on the pillow next to me are the happiest. My beloved Natasha, the German Sheppard is 9 y.o. now and has arthritis. She loves coming upstairs and spending the night with me and Plato but hesitates every time there are steps on her way up. Plato, a 5y.o. Maltese cross is another love of my life. He knows that Natasha is my princess and outside any competition but understands that he is loved as much. He goes where she goes and sleeps where she sleeps.
So most of the nights I have to put up with a thunder of his snoring as well as Mr. Pearl’s demanding meowing. Pearl is the only cat in the family and feels somehow out of place. His cousin he grew up with was killed by hit and run driver. As any Burmese Pearl loves to talk a lot and he does not care if it is in the middle of the night. He usually jumps in through my bedroom’s window around one o’clock at night when the rest of the pack is already asleep. Then he thinks it is a perfect time to share latest news and shamelessly disturbs every one. Every night I swear that tomorrow I will lock my window and let him freeze outside to teach him a lesson but every morning I forgive him after a big smooch!
After his story is told Pearl makes a nest for himself to sleep in comfort. The best place for that is usually Plato’s incredibly fluffy tail. That move normally causes more chaos – Plato doesn’t exactly thinks his tail is for rent, especially not by a cat. At these moments I have to tell Pearl to cuddle up to Natasha –she loves every one and won’t mind.
Finally, everyone is tacked in and settle down. The next morning we all will wake up at the same time as a happy family in our “society of mutual admiration” – until the next time.
