Did you know that 57% of the electricity in the United States comes from coal? When coal is burned it creates steam, which is then shot into a turbine, making it spin and thus creating electricity.

Unfortunately, coal is one of the dirtiest fuels on earth. It creates smog and pollution and spews enormous amounts of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, contributing greatly to global warming.

Even though coal is cheap compared to gas and oil, it's getting more and more expensive, which is why your utility bills are going up. Oil, gas, and now coal--everything's getting more and more expensive while adding polluting our environment! There's got to be an alternative.

Of course there is. It's solar energy. Recently, leading futurist Ray Kurzweil told The New York Times that he believes technological advances will enable solar power to compete equally with fossil fuels in as little as five years! He also thinks that all our energy will come from clean sources by 2030. Of course, you don't have to wait that long. There are solar powered products you can buy today that will save you money and protect the environment.

Solar powered fans are one of the most popular solar products sold today. Fans are perfect for solar power because they run at their highest speed exactly when they're most needed--when the hot sun is out!. And solar powered fans are easy to install because you don't have to worry about electrical outlets, wiring, and power sources. Just set them up and let them run, which they'll do for free.

Solar powered fans can go anywhere. Gable fans can be installed in your garage, workroom, storage shed, or barn. Smaller solar powered vents can ventilate your boat, camper, RV, or van. Some people even install them in their dog houses! It's important to remember that heat creates moisture, which turns into mold and mildew. Solar powered fans get rid of that moisture and keep your inside spaces clean and fresh.

Solar powered attic fans are big sellers. That's because attics can become extremely hot. Fans reduce the heat and moisture and keep your attic free from mold and mildew. Hot attics also make your entire house hotter, which makes your air conditioners work harder. By keeping your attic cool, solar powered fans can significantly reduce your electric bills. And attic fans are on your roof facing the sun, so they work great.

Sometimes people forget one very important thing: solar powered fans run for free. Once you buy one and install it, you'll soon make your money back due to your reduced electricity use. As the cost of electricty rises, the point at which you start saving money happens sooner. You'll feel really great knowing that you're not wasting energy anymore--or money!

Robert Henderson often writes about alternative energy sources. To find out where you can buy solar powered fans and other solar products, please visit Solar Powered Fans.
