There are many paths to being a Solitary Wicca so it is important to anyone who wishes to explore it to remember that there is No One Path. There is no right or wrong way to find the spiritual path you are most comfortable with. There is no handbook to be the perfect Wiccan. All I can show you the Path I have taken and where it has led me. Some of what you will read in these hubs will work for you. Some of it will not help you. It is up to you and only you to take the information you find and use it at you see fit.

There are many books available full of lots of useful information. But there is no one book with all the answers. Read, read and read again and pull out what is useful to you. I will list the books that I have read and that have helped me.

I will use the word Wicca and Witch but I will mean the same thing. Neither word has a negative connotation to me. I have had different reactions from people as an African American woman when I say I’m a Witch. Sadly I am often asked about Voodoo which I know little about. I have found humor to be the best way to deal with misunderstandings of who I am. It doesn’t mean that I don’t take my religion seriously. But I find using humor a better teacher than ‘coping an attitude’ about it.

What is the nature of the Divine? This is a question that can only be answered by each individual. Who and what is God? It is a matter of perception. Can a human mind grasp the totality of the Divine? When I try I feel overwhelmed by the immensity of it all. So how do you honor what you cannot comprehend? You break it down into small chunks you can manage.

You can think of it as a pyramid or holy trinity if you are more comfortable with that visualization. At the apex is the Divine aka One aka All. Divide it into two equal parts you have the legs of your pyramid the Feminine One and the Masculine One. Equal and balanced in the cosmic order. There are some pagan traditions that follow primarily the Feminine One also know as the Goddess, the Mother and/or the Lady. There are other traditions that focus primarily the Masculine One also known as the God, the Father/and or the Lord. There is no right or wrong choice in this.

My choice is to honor them equally with equal reverence. The Lord and Lady each have three aspects.

The Goddess

The Maiden

The Mother

The Crone

The God

The Son

The Father

The Sage

Each of these aspects represents a stage in life. Just as we go through stages of life the Lady and the Lord do as well through the course of a year. Both are triple aspected and both in balance with each other.

When honoring these aspects of the Goddess and the God I choose to think in Native American terms according to my ancestry. The Goddess is the Earth Mother and the God is the Sky Father.

The Earth Mother’s three aspects are as follows:

The Maiden - Onatah

The Mother - Eithinoha

The Crone - Nokomis

The Sky Father’s three aspects are as follows:

The Son - Shakaru

The Father - Tirawa

The Sage - Hemaskas

The number three is a sacred number. Such as the three sides of the triangle or pyramid and a representation of three faces of the God and Goddess.

I honor both the Goddess and the God equally. Male and female as two equal sides. Balance is the fundamental basis of my Path.
