Help For Lower Back Pain

Once an injury to the spine has occurred, regular, often persistent back pain can follow; affecting almost every type of activity, only back pain relief medication seems to help for a while. Although some medication may be effective and bring pain relief, it doesn't really help with the underlying problem of the condition causing the distress. Medication should be used sparingly and under the strict supervision of a medical professional.

The back is under a constant strain throughout our lives and whilst it is very strong, it can be injured without to much difficulty; spinal injury is one of the most common conditions around the world and even sitting incorrectly can create a long term problem. However, back pain is usually caused by a lifting accident or from lifting incorrectly and it is normally the lower back that suffers. However, a number of back pain relief treatments can be used without the need for drugs.

Tense muscles in the back can be eased just by gentle stretching; this provides relief and is simple to carry out. Success at reducing pain and providing relief has also been found by people using reflexology to the feet; it is a very old natural therapy which helps to relieve many chronic ailments in addition to back pain. Reflexology can also help to improve the body's blood circulation and relax muscles.

Acupuncture on the other hand has been used in China since before the birth of Christ and has had considerable success in helping sufferers. It is providing back pain relief even though this is something that has only recently being used in the Western world. Traditional Chinese medicine is based on the theory that all people have this energy which flows through them called 'chi' or 'qi'. Acupuncture works by releasing the 'chi' or energy flow that every living thing has to improve health. Like reflexology, acupuncture seems to be used by people who suffer with chronic conditions like back pain which requires relief.

The Chinese discipline of tai chi has also provided relief as it uses yoga like principles. It is far easier and much slower so there is less likelihood of further damage being caused. The most important aspect of tai chi is that almost anyone can participate as it uses gentle breathing exercises and techniques to help relax the body. Natural back pain relief should really start with more frequent exercise; it not only helps to ensure the back is more flexible but can prevent spinal problems as well.

As you know the back is strong but easily injured. This is preventable and generally curable by incorperating exercise into ones life. In many cases, up 68% of the time, back pain can be cured by using specific exercise programs. One program is "The Guide To Back Pain Relief" by Mike Stiveson. It is one program that is cheaper than medication, can be easily downloaded, and put in to practice. Remember to contact a doctor about your back pain. Back pain can be a symptom of another more serious problem.
