Love songs are funny things, some days they make you cry, some days they make you laugh. Sometimes the crying is sadness other times from joy. It just depends on the place you are in life. Sometimes the laughter is joy and sometimes from the twist of irony. Love songs can make you heart flutter or twist in it like a knife. The funniest part is the same song that flutters today, may twist tomorrow. Such is the dance of the love songs.

I love songs that speak of trueness and lasting love. They lift me up when I am down and give me hope when all is black. It is raining today in the DC area, but the sun is shining within me. Although doubt and darkness are trying to edge their way in, a wall of hope is keeping them out of my mind. Sometimes, when we most need one, we are sent a friend who understands us.

Sting-It's Probably Me

Sting is a gifted musician. He was fantastic with The Police, but I really like him best solo. This song, "It's Probably Me" is from the album, "Ten Summoner's Tales". This is my favorite album by Sting. "It's Probably Me" is also part of the soundtrack for the movie, "Lethal Weapon 3". I found Mel Gibson and Rene Russo's interaction amusing.

The Pretenders-Stand by You

Crissie Hynde of The Pretenders was the rockingest woman around in the late 1970's.  As the 80's arrived so did her music, changing us forever.  This is a great song about strength and longevity.  It tells the story of unconditional love, the kind most people only dream of.

Elvis Presley-Love Me Tender

Sorry, but could a love song hub be complete without Elvis?  Elvis was one of the greatest crooners of all time, not to mention sexy beyond comparison. This one always has and always will be one of my favorites.

The Rose: The Original Soundtrack Recording The Rose: The Original Soundtrack Recording
Price: $5.52

Bette Midler-The Rose

A song of love for all those who don't believe.  "Just remember..." Bette says.  I love Bette Midler.  She is sexy and funny and strong.  She is as beautiful as she is timeless.

The Bangles-Eternal Flame

The Bangles were an 80's girl band. What can I say, I was alive and well in the 80's. Just graduating and entering "real" life, the 80's were great. This song has always touched my heart and remains one of the greats.

Roberta Flack-Killing Me Softy With His Song

This song was originally recorded by Lori Liebermann, but I remember Roberta singing it. It was redone in 1996 by the Fugees, sung by Lauryn Hill. I can never decide which version I like most...I guess it depends on my mood at the time. I have included both. This is a hauntingly beautiful song. I have loved it since I was a child. It is timeless.

Not bad at all, k@ri! :-) For all the history "Killing me softly.." has, I never knew Gloria Gaynor also had a cover way back when. I heard her performing it live last year in Madrid and I just about melted!

Sting is GREAT! I listen to music quite a bit, and no one has yet to be able to predict what I'll choose. I have 7 playlists on my iPod, and I'm forever frustrating everyone in the car or whoever is at home by changing the songs constantly! Your blues hub and this one have some great songs that I added because you reminded me. Thanks!

Great song choices. Love all of the songs. I am not partial to the Fugees version, I usually like remakes and covers, but it just don't have that Zing to me.

I cast my little vote for "Killing Me Softly" as the most beautiful love song ever, though "Tears From Heaven" would be up there if it qualifies in this category.  Thanks for memories.

James, I love "Killing Me Softly" and I also love "Tears from Heaven". That is a beautiful song and I thought about if, but I felt it was more about love and loss than just love. Thanks! :D
