Well according to the acclaimed bad boy himself, he says that its because woman allow men to cheat, not that they promote it but they allow it to happen. Because they are too comfortable with the relationship or they are too caught up to let the cheater go.
Other reasons mentioned were that the ratio of woman to men is so high that its hard for a red blooded male not to be tempted.

ome say its because the girlfriend, wife or significant other is slacking at home, either not giving her mate the attention he needs or that the wife or girlfried are not willing to be open-minded enough to be more adventurous in the sheets.
I have heard that it was not something the guy planned to happen, it just happened, like a accident.. one thing lead to another.

I think its because of that "the grass is always greener" saying that makes men curious. I think 90% of male cheaters never plan too but its too easy to mess up, especially w/ alcohol involved.
I agree it takes two people to be fully commited and work hard at a relationship, especially if they feel it is worth the effort.
My opinion is strong on this issue. I may sound naive but if a man or a woman makes a commitment to someone they love, Cheating is inexcusable, unexceptable and reprehensable. I have never ever cheated and I have been in situations where it would have been easy o do so. If a Man or a WOMAN is honest loyal and is of strong morals than it should never ever be week enough to fail in a commited relationship. It is a simple choice of yes I will or No I won't. If one is honest wth oneselfe and is truly commited, one will always make the correct decision and will not fall to temptation. I myself would die from the quilt if I would have ever cheated. It truly comes down to a simple choice yes or no. The persons morals, ethics and values (if they are right) will always lead the way to thye correct decision. But I suppose a dinosaur such as myself is a dying breed. However I like the fact that I can and do say no to temptation. I am sorry if I am a n old fashion old fart, but I know I am right inmy mind.

Poetic Knight it sure is great to hear that you value commitment in a relationship, I think that is really what it is all about, each person has to decide what they value in life.
Great hub - I think men cheat because they're horny, and when they get caught, they use some excuse. But to me, it's just a cop out - like Poetic Knight said - if you have strong enough morals you will not cheat. I think women put up with too much from men, and thereby "allow" them to cheat.
Working Mom you do have a point there.
- Some men cheat because they may be accused of cheating by an overly insecure woman even when they're not - so after a while they say F-it! and cheat anyway.
- Some men cheat because the other woman makes them feel more appreciated.
- And of course a lot of men cheat because they're just flat out Dogs.
I see what your saying, I was reading something that said that it is in a mans genes to cheat, like its biological. I would say from a scientific stand point it is to keep the earth from becoming extent and men are here to spread their seeds to keep procreation going, but of course that is not what women want to hear. LOL
ok im a man and i see all of your point of views but imgoing to speak from my perspective on this topic. ok why do men cheat i cant sit here and talk about all men because there is honestly some men out there holding there women down and doing whats right but ima say this..... every case is different with men because we as ppl are not the same, some men do it just because they can, or becuase all the female want them and its to easy, some men just get it thrown at them and its hard for a man to even turn down that offer, some may have trust issues that they are dealing with mentally they always believe that there women is cheating because unfortunatly some women are scandalous. there are many reasons why a man cheats but heres mine, i was in a commited relationship with a women every thing was good like how all relationships start out but in a way as a women she wasnt handling her business. i mean i do whatever it took to make her happy give her messages cook for her all types of sweat stuff and in the bedroom put it down on her, have her shakin and all lol, thats besides the point , but jus like women need intimacy and have they urges we get our urges to and personally i love sex im not gonna deny it but every time i wanted it there be a problem but whenever she wanted it she knew i would always be there. we would go 2 maybe 3 wks at a time without having sex maybe a little longer which was cool at first cause i wasnt in it for the sex but you can only keep a man waiting for so long until he goes out looking. not only that she wasnt making the effort to try i even brought it to her attention like hey me and you are lacking intimacy i dont care what nobody says its plays a big role in a relationship , so i told her and waited for her to make the change and make it happen she stayed the same ( but i loved her )you know , but as the saying goes if you dont make the time or do your significant other right then someone else will. so my thing is not that i am a cheater or i cheat its the fact that if a women did what she was suppose to do and handle her business in the streets and in the bedroom that would be no or should not be any problems in my eyes. i know theres some women out there that are probably saying well i do do that but like i said i can only speak for myself not everyone else. and i felt maybe my story would help somebody understand becuase maybe this situation is going on in your household. so for both parties male and female both need to take charge and handle there business it just can be a one man or one women show. welp hopefully i could help somebody out with my story and maybe it could help give one reason why a man woulg go looking elsewere . o and by the way i am only 22 i know i sound very mature for my age thank you thank you lol.

The urge to cheat is always there in every human being but the ability to withstand the temptation makes the difference. Cheating is not limited to men alone, the women are guilty as well. There are reasons why couples cheat each other, it may be due to loneliness, abandonment, financial difficulty, sex, etc. Whatever be the case, it is morally wrong in the sight of God and man to cheat.
I like the many excuses men have for cheating -- they blame the woman because they can't actually MAN UP to acknowledging the relationship is going downhill? That's so trifling.
So basically, instead of acknowledging that I'm broke, I'll just go out and steal, then blame the bank for not putting money in my account.
I agree, it takes two people to make a relationship work, it all depends on what a couple chooses to have in their courtship, either they want commitment for the long haul or they want just companionship for the now.
