Somerset Collection--60 Percent Off deedsphotos
60Somerset Collection--October 2009
The recession is still spreading in Michigan outward from the "Big" Three auto companies to state, county, city and school budgets and even to southeast Michigan's upscale mall, the Somerset Collection, where sex still sells, but at 60 percent off. Auto plants and dealers are closing, school districts are financially distressed, government worker pensions are under-funded, foreclosure signs have sprung up like mushrooms in the inner city and the suburbs, and there is no shortage of slips at the yacht clubs and marinas on Lake St. Clair. Only the casinos, nursing homes and strip bars appear to be holding their own and even growing.

Sad reality, isn't it? Things aren't any better here in Ohio. In fact our economy is so bad we have to use "recession" pictures from Michigan as examples because we can't afford cameras.
(However, kartika makes an excellent point! LOL)
Btw, who's the dapper, good-looking gentleman in the bottom photo? His face is so familiar... ;)
Great article in Time Magazine about Detroit a few weeks ago. Relevant here I bet.
Excellent Hub.
Thanks for the kind comments.
Great Hub and good commentary on the current state of the economy.
I'm a shopper, but those upscale malls are always kinda scary vacant places. In this area of AZ, life is always hard, but I hear the unemployment rate is now 9.1%
This is a regular sight in the UK also.
