"Somewhere in Time" , the poem

From a picture
Your eyes enchanted
Even the stars
 That light the night
 Don’t shine as much.

I knew at once
I had to hold you
I had to know the
 Tenderness of your touch.

Somewhere in time
To win your love
If I believe
 That I’m with you
 Will that be enough?

But I found you only to lose you
 Somewhere in time.

Was I dreaming?
Did I imagine
Or was it real,
 The warmth of you
 Against my skin?

I was right there
Tasting your kisses
Ripped from your arms.
Why can’t I be there again?

If this is love
Here in my heart
I’ll find a way
 To be beside
 You never to part.

Then forever
We’ll be together
 Somewhere in time.

The Theme Needed Lyrics

In 1980, following his success as Superman, Christoper Reeve starred with Jane Seymour in "Somewhere in Time". That year, as I watched the movie, the movie's title theme spoke to me. It seemed incomplete, needing more than just the melody to communicate, it needed lyrics.

Without knowing, or caring for that matter, that lyrics may or may not exist, the following morning I bought the soundtrack and over the next 2 days wrote the preceding lyrics to "Theme from Somewhere in Time" by Roger Williams, of the original soundtrack.

There are now lyrics written by John Barry, who composed the original soundtrack, and lyrics as performed by Michael Crawford, of Phantom of the Opera fame. While I haven't heard the John Barry version, the Michael Crawford version will warm the blood and melt the coldest heart.

Still, I think my lyrics are more in sync with the storyline.

S. Rachmaninov, Rhapsody on a theme of paganini along with the original score from that movie are all my favorites. I just loved that movie. To this day it is one of my favorite love stories. =) Great hub!
