These Times, They Are Trying

This evening my mind was drawn back to a time that had seemed long gone. I was trying to find a video on YouTube for my grandaughter and stumbled upon instead, a video of John Lennon singing "Imagine".

Suddenly, I was in a state of deja vu, and I had the strangest feeling come over me that we were coming full circle, or like I was caught up in a time machine and going backwards. Financial crisis, recession followed by inflation, wars, seems like one after another....more and more of our young people fighting for....what?

So many scenes flooded into my mind from times gone by, and suddenly the songs of yesterday were playing in my mind, bringing back so many memories of trying times we were all experiencing in our country during my younger years.

And it dawned on me how relevant to today all these songs still are, so I've brought some here for all of you to enjoy with me....

The real lesson in the songs and memories, I believe, is that, as Americans we always perservere with both faith and courage, and we always come through it all stronger than before.

Sometimes it takes revolutionary thought and action and then a surge of new faces in leadership. However, we bring this about by paying a whole lot more attention to the candidates voting records and knowing exactly what we want and need when we go to the polls.

I do sincerely hope these songs bring as much inspiration and motivation for a brighter tomorrow as they've brought me today.

And please don't watch the Christmas one if you are bothered by graphic scenes, rather than being inspired and motivated to do more because of the realities of war....as it's the one I watched, because we're close to the holidays, again, a song played often when the VietNam war ended, but with scenes from more recent times...that gave me the resolve to urge everyone, everywhere to please pray for peace daily and also, together...let's all do all we can to 'Give Peace a Chance' by supporting a STOP to the current war in Iraq in the NOW with a full blown REVOLUTION FOR PEACE!

Love and prosperity to all,

DJ

More Songs For These Times

I've gotten emails from many people, commenting on these songs and some even sending links to other songs from yesterday that are so appropriate to the events in the world today.

So decided to add more songs for our listening pleasure that we can share with friends and family too. I so agree that songs from yesterday held so much meaning and seemed to sustain folks through the trying times while providing hope for the future being brighter.

So enjoy and as always, appreciate feedback, views, and those who contribute even more material for any of the hubs I've done.

Peace and abundance to all....life needs background music...just like the movies,

DJ

The protest songs of the 60's were so vibrantly raw. Though I am far too young to have lived through that era I often listen to that type of music to remind myself some people still do care about the state of the world/human race/whatever. It's a shame more modern music isn't as opinionated...
