The only thing I have to say about the BDP-S1 is that they are top quality. Picture and sound quality are top-notch, but everything really depends on the software.

Well, if you are still undecided about which camp to follow (Blu-ray or HD-DVD), I am here to tell you that the Blu-ray will win.

You see, I have both Blu-ray and HD DVD. I have over 20 HD-DVD movies and about 20 Blu-ray films.

In terms of image and sound quality, they are the same, but it is entirely dependent on the software.

But here is where the similarities end.

1) Blu-ray is more durable. The BD-film discs have scratch coating. They do not zero, unless you scratch it with vigour. On the other side, which HDDVD scratch films like vultures. I put all my movies in a CD case. Recently, I have noticed that ALL HDDVD films are scratched, but NOT the Blu-ray films are scratched. These are in the CD case SAME of me. I am very careful. None of my films even have a fingerprint on it. So, when I see scratches on 100% of my HDDVD films, which really bothers me !!!!!

2) Blu-ray costs less to buy. What? Superman Returns BD $ 24, Superman HDDVD is $ 28 The Departed is BD $ 24, The Departed HDDVD is $ 28 Now is the DUAL HDDVD format is both a standard DVD film and HDDVD, but who in the right mind would want to buy a HDDVD to 480p a picture?

Right now you can a PS3 $ 500 or $ 400 Toshiba HDDVD player. Later this year, Sony comes with a $ 300 Blu-Ray disc player. HDDVD is probably their prices fall. Thus, the hardware costs for the same in both formats.

3) Blu-ray has more capacity. For less money, you can get a 50 GB Blu-ray film to a 30GB HDDVD film.

And what if in 5 years, they develop high-definition SUPER SUPER 1920p image and Hi-Def 8.1 DTS-HD sound? What if this requires 75GB or 100GB? HDDVD can go up to 51GB.
