Sony DSC-H10B Camera
53
I was looking to review a camera that is about 8.1 Megapixels, and I got more than I bargained for with the Sony DSC-H10B.
The camera worked after charging up the battery, which came on a convenient charger that has a flip out plug. From there, the user can switch into all kinds of modes that include Auto, Program Auto, as well as Scene Selections. The selections include Twilight, Twilight Portrait, Landscape, Soft Snap, Snow, Beach environment, High Sensitivity, Fireworks, even Advanced Sports Shooting. The Advanced Sports Mode is made for split-second detail, and has a high shutter speed of up to 1/4000 of a second.
The flash went up automatically when it was time, and it was indeed powerful enough to illuminate subjects up to 14 feet away, at both wide angle and ISO 3200 settings. There is even an Auto Daylight Synchro provides an effective fill-in flash illumination for backlit subjects.
I was also able to switch into Face Detection mode rather easily. The Face Detection technology somehow narrows in on the flash, focus, and exposure. It makes the skin tones natural, reduce red-eye, and removes facial glare.
I could go on about all the features, and I will. One of the coolest features is the Carl Zeiss 10X Optical Zoom Lens, that brings several things up close.
The 3.0 inch Display is a patented Clear Photo LCD Plus, which has an anti-reflective coating which will help you to “compose, view, and share photos with superb clarity and color reproduction, even with bright sunlight”.
The 9-point Auto Focus allows the user the ability to shoot a subject that is off center through a 9-point auto focus that measures auto focus at 9 precision points instead of five. The Smart Zoom feature also can crop the real meat of your photo, which helps to avoid the dreaded image degradation.
Another great feature is the double anti-blur solution that steadies shaky hands and can somehow make an image steady. The Super SteadyShot Optical Image Stabilzation that can detects camera movement.
The Burst mode is also great as it offers the user the opportunity to fire off three shots simultaneously at 1 second intervals in VGA mode or 2 second intervals in full resolution mode.
The DSC-H10 is also HDTV compatible, which allows you to plug the camera into any HDTV for viewing of the images or movies.
You should be able to purchase the Sony DSC-H10/B camera for about $299.99. It is definitely worth it for that.
