A feature power phone, too it's faulty
The Sony Ericsson C series is pretty new. They are the C702 and C902, both are Cyber-Shot phones. The Cyber-shot range is well known for its proprietary powerful camera feature. Cyber-shot phones like the K800i and the K810i was excellent, however for the Sony Ericsson C702, it's a failure.
The Sony Ericsson C702 is supposedly a sturdy phone, however there are many reports that the phone is faulty, from the keypads, cover to the ironically easy to break casing. However, this may just be a factory defect that can easily be solved if you replace them at the shop. Anyway, let's look at the Sony Ericsson C702 has to offer.
Design:
The design of the C702 is pretty good, it looks solid and very sturdy. The casing has a cyan and black themes, both are with silver highlights looking very sleek and attractive.
- It weighs 105 g and only 106 x 48 x 16 mm in overall size.
- It's got a clear and bright screen, it is a 2.2 inch 262k TFT color screen in 240 x 320 pixels resolution.
- The keypads are rather hard to get used to and they answer and end buttons are a bit tiny which can be a frustrating experience.
Multimedia:
When it comes to multimedia, the C702 is pretty good.
- It has a decent Media Player.
- It has FM Radio complete with RDS.
- It has Album Art which adds more attractiveness towards multimedia and not just a plain bland text and buttons to look at.
- The phone has a MegaBass feature which amplifies music quality and not make it sound tinny.
- The phone has a decent Video Player and you can also watch by Video Streaming if you want to view movies online, especially when you're using EDGE on this phone.
Camera:
This is the part where the Sony Ericsson C702 is pretty good at. Although its not as good as the K series, it is more than enough to get the job done in taking beautiful pictures.
- It has a 3.2 Megapixel Camera, photos taken are clear and crisp.
- The C702 has a dedicated camera menus and keys in which you can treat it like a real portable digital camera.
- The 2x digital zoom is enough to zoom and capture what you wanted. Any higher than that doesn't make the picture quality better anyway.
- You can always use the Auto Focus functionality to easily take pictures, there's also a Face Focus functionality so you can't go wrong with it.
- And of course, it will never be a true camera phone if it can't have Video Recording.
Calling and messaging:
The C702i is an excellent phone for calling and messaging.
- It has a Quad Band network which utilizes GSM 850, GSM 900, GSM 1800, GSM 1900 and UMTS 2100.
- The C702i supports SMS and MMS support. You can also freely write and send long SMS.
Internet:
As I've said earlier, you can watch amazing Video Streaming since the phone has got the fastest data rate transferring technologies.
- It has 3G HSDPA and EDGE, these technologies makes browsing a breeze.
- The C702i has an Access NetFront Web Browser, WAP 2.0 XHTML and can receive Web Feeds.
Connectivity:
Passing files or transferring them to a PC is never a problem with the C702i. It's got Bluetooth for wireless transfers and USB for easily transferring files.
Applications:
It has A-GPS Navigation, a very useful feature for traveling, giving you directions of course! It has Google Maps which is very convenient.
Memory and battery:
- The phone has decent memory, its got a 150 Mbytes Memory enough to save many messages, pictures etc.
- You can always add higher memory as the C702i has Memory Stick Micro M2 support.
- Now for the battery, the C702i can last up to 7 hrs talk time or 300 hrs standby, very useful, very convenient.
All I can say is that the Sony Ericsson C702i has got excellent features, it is above average and very useful too. However, due to the issues, you might just consider a different phone. Good alternatives are Sony Ericsson K810i for camera features or the Sony Ericsson P1 for business purposes. These phone have the best free line rental deals, or you can even get the best cashback deals with a free Sony Playstation 3. Two birds in one stone, not a bad deal I must say.
