This version of Sony Ericsson PC suite was downloaded from the Sony Ericsson website.

Some SE PC Suite that came with a brand new handset is a lower version of this PC Suite.

Main functionalities


Important!

The availability of some features described in this help file depends on the capacities of your mobile phone subscription and on the capacities of your phone.
This application enables you to share the information contained in your mobile phone with your computer.
Once your mobile phone is connected to your computer, different operations can easily be processed. They are organized in three groups:

  1. Tools
  2. Editors
  3. Applications

Tools

The Tools allows you to:



Syncronization

  • keep your phone and computer synchronized

The Synchronization window allows you to synchronize data between your phone and computer in order to always stay updated on both devices.

Depending on the capabilities of your phone, you can synchronize your:

  • contacts,
  • calendar,
  • tasks,
  • notes,
  • bookmarks.

Backup and Restore

  • keep your phone backed up

Depending on the capabilities of your phone, the Backup & Restore window allows you to:

1. Backup and restore your:

· contacts with pictures (to check if pictures are supported by your mobile phone, refer to your phone manual),

· calendar,

· tasks,

· notes,

· bookmarks,

· files from the phone memory and/or memory card.

2. Browse backup content.

The Backup & Restore window workspace is composed of two areas:

1. The title area
In addition to introducing the Backup and Restore functionality, it also displays:

o The date of your last backup (the date is updated each time the Backup & Restore window is opened).

o A link allowing you to open the online help.

2. The runtime area
It is composed of a:

o Phone backups bubble displaying the backup files and allowing you to perform actions on these backups.

o Backup phone button allowing you to start the backup process.

o Restore phone button allowing you to start the restore process.

o Link (Settings) allowing you to access the Backup and Restore Settings dialogue box.


Internet connection

  • Connect your computer to the Internet via your phone chapter).

The Connect to Internet window displays your current connection status (Offline or Online).

Within the Connect to Internet window, you can also:

·         Automatically create an Internet Connection (UMTS/GPRS)

·         Connect and/or disconnect to/from the Internet

·         Create your own Internet connection and change the default parameters (APN, login/password, security) (Manage my connections screen)

·         Connect with an alternative Internet Connection (Manage my connections screen)

·         Modify the settings of an existing Internet Connection (Manage my connections screen)

·         View Internet Connection Information (Connected Time, Data received/Sent)

·         View run-time status & information (Connected/Not Connected/Signal Strength/Operator/Network)

The Connect to Internet window workspace is composed of a:

·         Question mark icon allowing you to open the online help.

·         Connection bubble displaying run-time status and connection information.

·         Connect button allowing you to establish an Internet connection.
The first time the user clicks on the Connect button, the application automatically creates 1 or 2 Internet connection(s). The default Internet connection is always the Internet connection using the best network available by the phone.

·         Launch Web browser when connected tick box opening the default browser when the Internet connection is established. This option is un-ticked by default.

·         Manage your connections link allowing you to perform operations which are not possible in an automatic way.

Editors

The Editors allows you to:

The Files window allows you to:

·         Open your files on your computer.

·         Move your files (images, melodies, videos, etc.) from your computer to your mobile phone (Phone memory/Memory card) and vice versa.

·         Have your files displayed in different views.

·         Perform operations (create/rename/delete) on folders/files.

Text messages

Send text messages

The Text Messages window allows you to:

·         Create, send and delete a text message.

·         Copy/Move a text message to an archive folder.

·         Forward, reply to a received text message.

Picture messages

The Picture Messages window workspace is composed of four areas:

1.      The toolbar
It is composed of three buttons:

o        To...: allows you to select a contact.
You also have the option of entering the phone number directly in the blank area.

o        Send...: allows you to send a message.

o        Help: allows you to open the Picture Messages help file.

Contacts

Contacts

The Contacts window allows you to:

·         View all the contacts on your mobile phone (phone memory).

·         Create, edit, duplicate and delete a contact.

·         Send a text message or a picture message to a contact.

·         Look for a contact using the search tool.

Calendar

Manage your calendar

The Calendar window allows you to:

Create and Schedule an appointment/task.
View and Modify an appointment/task.
Delete an appointment/task.

Applications

All applications are not yet installed so you need to install the application using the installation cd that came with your phone or download the application from the software download.

MyPhone Online

MyPhone Online

The MyPhone Sony Ericsson website brings together learning and support, content, downloads and recommendations for your phone. If you become a member, you will also get access to free creative tools, online storage and more.

Each time you click on the MyPhone Online button, a dialogue box appears offering you three possibilities.

You can:

  • Register online to get a MyPhone membership.
  • Log in directly (by entering your User name and password) to your member page, if you already have a member account.
