Review

Sony Ericsson is a premiere brand and has always been coming up with new things every now and then. There latest addition is the Sony Ericsson Satio also known as Sony Ericsson Idou (outside India). With this product they definitely claimed the top spot in the current market.

The details and the specifications suggest that Sony has been spending their last 12 months working on the phone. This device released by Sony has a huge burden on its shoulders. They have been experimenting with Symbian and Android, but that not their fulltime job.

We can say that Sony Ericsson Satio is an industry leading camera phone, after all there’s no other phone that offers 12 mega-pixels. After I reviewed this phone I think that it should be the best selling phone of 2009 and beat its other rivals like Nokia N97 and Nokia N96.

Here are the key Features:

  1. 3.5" 16M-color resistive touchscreen of 640 x 360 pixel resolution
  2. 12 megapixel state-of-the-art autofocus camera
  3. LED and xenon flash, active lens cover
  4. VGA@30fps video recording
  5. Symbian OS 9.4 with S60 5th edition UI, spiced up with a home-brewed homescreen and media menu
  6. ARM Cortex-A8 600 MHz CPU, PowerVR SGX dedicated graphics accelerator and 256 MB of RAM
  7. Quad-band GSM support
  8. 3G with HSDPA 7.2 Mbps and HSUPA 3.6 Mbps support
  9. Wi-Fi and GPS with A-GPS
  10. microSD card slot (up to 32GB)
  11. Built-in accelerometer
  12. TV out
  13. Stereo FM Radio with RDS
  14. USB and stereo Bluetooth v2.0
  15. Web browser has full Flash support
  16. Preinstalled Wisepilot navigation software
  17. Office document viewer.

I was disappointed with the following disadvantages:

  1. Xenon flash is not adequately powerful
  2. The S60 5th edition UI isn't to the best in class standards
  3. No 3.5mm audio jack or a standard USB port
  4. No DivX or XviD support out-of-the-box
  5. No smart or voice dialing
  6. Playing flash videos in the browser easily depletes the available RAM
  7. No office document editing (without a paid upgrade)
  8. No stereo speakers
  9. No digital compass (magnetometer)

After all this I just have one thing to say that this is one of the best releases from Sony Ericsson and this shows that there are not entering the war of technology with a massive weapon.

If you want to carry a piece of technology that stands out from the rest of all and want to have the best and latest then this the product.
