The Sony Alpha A330 DSLR camera with a fantastic Live View feature is a huge camera for your bucks. It is in direct competition with Canon in this particular price bracket however it just shades the Canon 1000D. The Sony has a larger display window than the Canon by 0.2 of an inch. It also in my opinion looks a better camera than the Canon.

The Sony has a very sophisticated image stabilisation feature which makes very tiny corrections to the image sensor to keep things stable. The result of this feature is that no matter what lens, cheap or expensive, you attach to the Sony Alpha it will be stabilised. In other cameras where the lens makes the adjustment you will need to purchase an expensive lens to0 guarantee stabilisation.

The best feature of the Sony Alpha however is its Live View feature. Of course Live View is not unique amongst DSLR cameras; at least 7 makes use this feature. However, in most cameras the way it is done can be fairly complicated, either through a dedicated focus sensor, or by using contrast detection. The Sony Alpha however uses phase detection auto focus in Live View mode. Here the Sony has a major advantage over other DSLR cameras.

The Sony Alpha has a 2.7 inch 230,000 pixel screen which tilts away from the cameras body, which is useful for those that use Live View. The image quality is very good if not quite as good as perhaps the Canon 1000D. However, the difference is so slight that you would have to scrutinise every frame to see a difference.

The Sony Alpha can accept both SD and Memory Stick Pro Duo cards via the twin slots in the side. All the information you need is shown in the main display but when you press your eye to the screen a sensor it turns the information off automatically. You can also link the auto focus feature to the light sensor so that as soon as you bring the camera up it tries to focus.

All in all the Sony Alpha A330 is an excellent DSLR camera in its price range and beats other similar cameras hands down with its Live View feature, its slightly larger screen and its burst performance.

Go on then, what's the best ad of the last decade? Which commercial has taken you by the scruff, held you rapt, entertained you, moved you (and, yes, the best ads should be able to do all of that)?

  • Sony Still Losing on PS3Overclockers Club2 days ago

When Sony released the Slim PS3 earlier this year, it was hoping that it would finally be able to make a profit from console sales. Sony is losing much less than at the initial launch, losing less than $40 per console sold . This is even more impressive as the price of the PS3 was dropped when the Slim PS3 was introduced. Sony was able to sustain this model due to revenue collected from game and ...
