Finland - The site I-diet reveals the results of a study conducted by several institutes in the Finnish health effects of probiotics on weight loss.

Probiotics are bacteria or yeasts that can have a beneficial effect on health. They aid in digestion and helps the immune system to strengthen, they can also become a preventive treatment of intestinal diseases. The action of probiotics for intestinal flora ground and which is suspected to play a role in obesity, researchers have tried to determine the influence of probiotics on obesity.

The study involved 256 pregnant women, divided into three groups in the first trimester of pregnancy. The first two groups received the same dietary advice to maintain a healthy weight and promoting the development of the baby. But one of these groups received in addition to probiotics. The third group of women did, they received no advice or probiotics. Each woman was weighed and measured at the beginning of pregnancy and one year after childbirth.

Only 25% of women who took probiotics and followed the dietary advice have become obese. The figure is 43% for women who followed the dietary advice and 40% among women who did not follow this advice or take probiotics. Taking into account the number of obese people in the Finnish population, the researchers conclude that the benefit of probiotics in the prevention of obesity is real.
