Sorry.Google.com
70What is sorry.google.com
First I have experienced this but over a year ago. When you get Google prompting you to enter the CAPTCHA, your searching brakes have just been applied.
You may get a message like this:
We're sorry... ... but your query looks similar to automated requests from a computer virus or spyware application. To protect our users, we can't process your request right now.
We'll restore your access as quickly as possible, so try again soon. In the meantime, if you suspect that your computer or network has been infected, you might want to run a virus checker or spyware remover to make sure that your systems are free of viruses and other spurious software.
We apologize for the inconvenience, and hope we'll see you again on Google.
It's possible you are infected, true. But if your search pattern is intense, it could also trigger the same response. Especially for someone doing some intense research or cross referencing. Another possibility is those using proxy servers - multiple computers going through one IP address, like schools or a business and a lot of people searching at the same time. This will trip sorry.google.com. Last I read it had occurred in Sept 08.
If you maintian a good antivirus program and use Spybot S&D a lot. There should be no reason for an infection. But definitely won't hurt to check.
Sorry.google.com was from what they say set up for your defense and their's.
From yours: in terms of infections with BOTs that do automated searches.
From Google's view and according to their TOS (terms of Service).
- using any software which sends queries to Google to determine how a website or webpage "ranks" on Google for various queries - "meta-searching" Google - performing "offline" searches on Google
Using spiders to doing offline searches through Google - out
Meta-searching (searching through several search engines) through google
queries for rankings through google - some FireFox extensions do this.
All these are violations of Google.com's ToS. So you'll be redirected from regular google.com to sorry.google.com. (Note sorry.google.com was in the top 10 products of google.com used).
Solutions
What is your solution: In my case next day all was well. I was off their blacklist. For individuals that may be well. But in a school settings using Proxies this could led to problems. Wifi providers could also experience this also, too many clients doing searches triggers a sorry.google.com. Changing your OpneDNS may help, is a suggestion.
Enter your complainant on their discussion board.
Try another search engine for starters one can check major Search engines or try the new upstart Cuil.
Other than that do check your computer for any viruses or spyware. There really isn't much you can do. Kinda like controlling the weather, put on a rain coat and/or grab the umbrella or winter coat.
Sorry not a big help here.

I think Google is out to get me. For months now haven't had a Sorry.Google.com and now in the last two days ugh! I get it.
Enough I am switching my default search engines to Cuil. For a while. See how that goes.
