Soul Eater anime is based on the manga of the same name written and illustrated by Atsushi Okubo. The anime consist of 51 episodes and the plot it's slight different from the manga.

The story is about Meister Maka Albarn and Weapon Soul Eater, who are students at the Death Weapon Meister Academy, "Shibusen" for short. The school has other students as Death the Kid and his weapon partners Liz and Patty, Black Star and Tsubaki as his weapon partner, who all have a big role in the plot.

The school is run by Shinigami, and it's a training ground for Weapons and Meisters (the person who wields the weapon), whose final goal is to have the Weapons to defeat and absorb the souls of 99 Eggs of Kishin (evil humans who became monsters) and 1 witch, then the weapon will transform to a more powerful form, the Death Scythe which is used by Shinigami.

The natural enemy of Shibusen are the witches, who wish to spread anarchy and chaos, however not all witches are evil, some are even allies to Shibusen. Later on the anime, the witch Medusa becomes a nemesis for the main characters, as she tries to awaken the first Kishin, an human who become an evil demon god named Asura, who is sealed in the ground beneath the Shibusen. Eventually, he's released and becomes an ally with Arachne, the sister witch of Medusa. The rest of the story, you have to see for yourselves, I don't want to spoil it.
