LESSON 1 - Advice On Promo Packages

– Overall, these SoundClick promotions only go so far in promoting your name. In order to become a true brand name you must combine 2 or 3 of these promotions as well as forums, blogs, myspace, emails, and word of mouth.

LESSON 3 - Blogs

– This is for people who like to write journal entries on everything they do. It could be used to it’s potential by having subscribers signed up to receive something like tips every week. This can also be used to tell people every time you put up a new track or album. Most of the time people post up useless information. My advice is to try not to waste time drooling on a hot girl’s profile picture and reading her daily doings.

LESSON 5 - Community

In 2007 SoundClick decided to add features to make it more community driven. (Myspace style) These features work only to increase your exposure through comments. My theory is, the more comments you make the more people have access towards your music through clicking your profile picture or link by your message. Do this sparingly and honest or your hard work will backfire. You do not want to be seen as annoying, or ruin your producer “image” in the SoundClick community. As a producer most of this community crap (besides the forums) is useless, unless you cleverly focus it to be on your music.

LESSON 7 - Featured Listing

Featured Listing ($100.00 a month, views vary)

You’re featured on the top of the licensing list for a month. You are on top of the list until another artist pays for this feature. Depending on the genre you can be on top for the whole month. This is only a supplemental feature, but is good for exposing your name, most people go to this listing on accident so you must consider about 10,000-50,000 views a day depending on where you’re placed on the listing.

LESSON 9 - Frontpage Scheduler

Frontpage Scheduler ($100 VIP, $200 BASIC, 150,000 views a day for 24hours)

You pick your day of promotion and customize your ad. Your song auto-plays on profile pages for those who have yet to pick a song and SoundClick says you actually pick up thousands of plays this way. This is an OK way of advertising if you only need a boost to quickly lease some instrumentals.

LESSON 11 - How To Upload Tracks

1. Login to your account.

2. Click on “Add a new band/artist”

3. Enter your band name, genre and read the contract

4. Through your main menu in the song column go to “add new songs”

5. Read and Agree to their terms

6. Fill out the song information and click next

7. You can stream (no download), set it up for downloads, or paid download

8. Set it up for Stream (you don’t want people getting free beats or for $1.25)

9. No licensing is no rights on sale. Creative commons means it’s free, you get credit and copyright. Paid License is payment from samplers and freestylers

10. Click on “No Licensing” and next

11. Get your mp3 off your computer or another internet site

LESSON 13 - Member Profiles

Everyone has a member profile. Do you need to upload your picture for your personal member profile? Then you must go to “band administration” and then “edit this profile”.

This is if you want to gain friends. It also can be used to narrow down people that fit your genre and style so you can make a sale.

LESSON 15 - Non-Exclusive & Exclusive

Non-exclusive rights (or leasing)

You sell the beat but keep the rights to it, so you can sell it to other artists

Exclusive rights

You sell the beat, maybe keep the rights to it, but cannot sell it to other artists

LESSON 17 - Professional Advertising

I suggest you only do this type of “Can’t-Miss” advertising once your beat catalog is above 150 GREAT beats. This type of advertising WILL sell all your good beats.

Pro-Ads ($1000.00 minimum, 400,000 daily views for a month)

Goto www.soundclick.com homepage and then click “help” under the homepage tab.

Goto solution center> I’m looking to advertise on SoundClick > Do you have a media kit?

Then click on “this page” link and it will show you the statistics for the site.

Their email is advertising@soundclick.com. Give them your pictures, ask how to give the $1000.00, tell them your link and they’ll do the rest.

LESSON 19 - Secret Number 2

Besides a lot of great songs, the 2nd thing you need is good advertising. Having 100 people go to your page seems like it’s a great thing huh? ITS NOT! A 1000 people is not enough and even 10,000 people is not enough. Maybe 1 out of 10 people will go beyond your first track. Maybe 1 out of 100 will listen to several. Maybe 1 out of 1000 will like you enough to remember you. Maybe 1 out of 10,000 will email you to buy a track. Maybe 1 out of 100,000 will actually buy the beat. Maybe you just made $20.00 off hundreds of thousands of views. THAT SUCKS!

People like brand names like “snickers and nike”, not “choco-bar” and “fresh-shoes”. People carry the same principle concerning you. Do you really think your name can sell over Timbaland, Dr. Dre or Kanye West? You’re lucky as rappers only care about hot beats, but your chances of sales will rise with more credibility. Brand names are great because it shows you they are reliable and the best of that type of product. A study was made that shows that people remember something after it is seen seven times. So in order to become a brand name you must do all the promotion possible to have your name or picture seen seven times, either through advertising, forums, blogs, emails, or whatever, just make sure you’re seen seven times!

LESSON 21 - SoundClick Advertising

SoundClick also offers in-site promotion programs to help you place high on the charts and increase traffic to your music. I have reviewed and rated all of them. If you are a VIP member all promotions are half off. If you plan to spend $200 on a promotion you mind as well sign up for VIP services as the promotion would only be $100.00 and VIP membership is $9.99 a month. All advertising is immediate after purchase.

LESSON 23 - What is SoundClick?

How did SoundClick develop? After the selling and commercialization of www.mp3.com to Vivendi Universal, artists wanted an indie environment to go to. SoundClick.com has been around for ten years and has all the major features of the old mp3.com so naturally many artists and producers went there after the collapse. Most traffic came here in 2005 after realizing MP3.com no longer accepted independent and unsigned music.

As of speaking right now SoundClick has:

2.5 million songs

325,000 bands

3 million members

It is really easy to be overwhelmed. Don’t be. I’ll show the professional way through this.
