I want to preface this with a disclaimer. I have never been to a Panda Express before, so my information was taken from online research. But armed with a nutritional info sheet and menu information, I was able to decipher the menu fairly well. Hence, here are some options for South Beach Diet Phase 1 at Panda Express.
Mixed Veggies-This is broccoli, zucchini and carrots cooked in chicken broth. That's a Phase 1 home run, except that you need to ask them to omit the carrots if at all possible since they are a Phase 1 no-no. Plus, I recommend this as a side and not your main course, since all veggies will likely not fill you up.
Mushroom Chicken-Chicken, zucchini, and mushrooms in a ginger and garlic sauce. Like with any of these dishes, don't let them serve any of them over any kind of rice.
Kung Pao Chicken-Chicken, peanuts, bell peppers, zucchini and green onions. Sounds filling and low-carb enough for Phase 1.
Black Pepper Chicken-Chicken, celery, onion, and lots of black pepper in a ginger soy sauce.
String Bean Chicken Breast-Chicken, green beans, and onions in a garlic ginger soy sauce.
Broccoli Beef-Broccoli and beef in a ginger sauce. With 11 grams of fat, this isn't as ideal as the chicken dishes but not horrible.
Kung Pao Shrimp-Shrimp, peanuts, bell peppers, zucchini and green onions. Yum.
Hot & Sour Soup-There are no ingredients listed, but this is usually a South Beach friendly option, even for Phase 1. Typical ingredients are pork, mushrooms, bamboo shoots, water chestnuts, green onions and tofu.
Egg Flower Soup-As long as there is no added cornstarch and it's basically chicken broth with eggs, this is another decent option.
Beverages-There are none listed, but as long as you stick to water, sparkling water, diet soft drink, coffee or tea, you should be fine.
Dessert-Even the no-fat, low calorie fortune cookie is off limits. Just have some coffee or tea and eat your dessert at home, such as ricotta crème or sugar free gelatin.

I think many of these sauces use cornstarch as a thickening agent, which sounds like it wouldn't be a good SBD ingredient, "corn" and "starch" Oh No! Just wanted to put that out there for people (again, not sure about this) to be aware of. :)
