HOW TO BUY SOUTH PACIFIC TICKETS NEW YORK BROADWAY VIVIAN THEATRE
66So you are looking to take in the Smash Broadway hit, "South Pacific" on Broadway in New York. Well great, you will NOT be disappointed. This little hub will give you a little background on the show, a few quick reviews and some tips on buying tickets.
South Pacific is generally seen as the greatest musical ever. Several songs have become worldwide hits including Bali Ha i, Some Enchanted Evening and Happy Talk. It is the only musical production to win ALL FOUR Tony Awards for acting.
The musical is set on a Tropical island in the Pacific during World War II, where US Navy Nurse Nellie Forbush falls in love with local plantation owner Emile De Becque. Meanwhile, Lt. Joe Cable has fallen in love with young Liat, daughter of the irrepressible Bloody Mary. Both couples' happiness is threatened by the realities of the war and by their own prejudices. Also, on the island are dozens of locals and Navy personal whom seem to break into glorious song and dance at just the right moments.
The Reviews
Above all, though, what impresses about this "South Pacific" is how deeply, fallibly and poignantly human every character seems. Nearly 60 years ago Brooks Atkinson, writing in The New York Times, described the show as "a tenderly beautiful idyll of genuine people inexplicably tossed together in a strange corner of the world." I think a lot of us had forgotten that's what "South Pacific" is really about. In making the past feel unconditionally present, this production restores a glorious gallery of genuine people who were only waiting to be resurrected.
New York Times
South Pacific was that best show I have seen in years. Having only seen the movie, I was truly moved by the stage production.
I had goosebumps with the first 3 notes of the overture. The music is both haunting and beautiful.. and raucous and irreverent. I LOVED IT.
A classic in every way. Do not miss this one.

I fell in love with South Pacific all over again. Whether you're old enough to have seen the original, the movie, a high school or regional revival, or simply know the songs (every single one a hit!). . .don't miss the chance to experience the "enchanted evening" created by director Bartlett Sher and his magnificent cast and creative team. This first Broadway revival in sixty years soars - from the moment the orchestra (led by Ted Sperling) launches into the overture of all musical overtures and the sand colored thrust stage rolls back to show its full complement of thirty musicians at work, right through to the final "Dites-Moi" that brings the romance of the cockeyed optimist from Arkansas (Kelli O'Hara) and her handsome French planter (Paul Szot) to its inevitably happy conclusion. TICKETS PRICES AND HOW TO OBTAIN THEM
Well here is the BEST possible advice I can give you on obtaining tickets. Plan your trip and buy WAY OUT IN ADVANCE. The reason I say that is because this is the hottest play on Broadway bar none and has been sold out for months. Not only is it sold out, but even the ticket-brokers do not have that much inventory for this show, it is that hot. So if you are planning on going to the show I will recommend my site, www.broadwaykings.com. Not only do we 100% guarantee that we will beat any ticket-brokers check out price, but we back it up by offering you $50 off your order if we cannot beat it.
If you still would chose to not work with a broker that is ok! Here are some tips on buying tickets if the show is sold out on the dates you want to go. 1. Try the box office on the day of, you NEVER KNOW. 99% of the time they are sold out but on occasion you can pick up tickets. But do not rely on that and don't bite on that old premise that tickets become easy to get and cheap day of, this is Broadway people not the circus. 2. You can always look at craigslist or eBay but you are dealing with brokers there and you better have confidence in who you are buying from. But you may get individuals who need to sell their tickets. 3. Street Scalper, DO NOT DO THIS. 4. The Lottery. Once in a while the box office will hold a lottery for tickets left for a show that is happening that day, go there, put you name in, you never know.
But again if you want to go and you see that the show is sold out, deal with a REPUTABLE broker who not only knows Broadway, but Broadway in its name.
