Dana Point's beaches surround the extraordinarily popular Dana Point Harbor and Marina, which is home to a variety of shops and restaurants.

There are at least ten excellent hotels close to the Marina including the Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel, Saint Regis Monarch Beach Resort and Spa and the Marriott Laguna Cliffs Resort.

Restaurants include the highly rated Ferrantellis, the Ichibiri Japanese restaurant on Monarch Bay Plaza and the Brio Tuscany Grille.

Parking and Directions

Dana Point is located roughly halfway between Los Angeles and San Diego.

The Dana Point Harbor and Marina are located approximately nine miles southeast of Laguna Beach along Pacific Coast Highway off Dana Point Harbor Drive.

There is ample parking for the beaches close to the Dana Point Marina alongside the shops and restaurants next to the boat slips.

Recreation and Activities

The majority of recreation around Dana Point is boating and boat/yacht-related.

There are rental and fishing charters, and harbor cruises some of which feature whale watching.

Interesting Fact

Dana Point was named after Richard Henry Dana who was the author of Two Years Before the Mast.
