We agonize over the health of the couch potatoes in our households. No matter how much we nag, argue and debate, it almost makes no difference. Couch potatoes seem to e determined to continue their march to obesity and coronary malfunction. Do not worry! This recipe gives you a healthy alternate to the potato chips and other deep fried junk food.

What you will need:

  1. 200 grams of soy nuggets.
  2. 4 large onions.
  3. 4 tomatoes.
  4. 1 cup of whipped cream.
  5. 5 cloves of garlic.
  6. 10 grams of ginger.
  7. Salt to taste.
  8. Powdered pepper to taste.
  9. Baking soda.

To deodorize soy nuggets, grind cloves and ginger into a fine paste and mix with plenty of water. Soak the nuggets in this mixture for half an hour. Be sure to squeeze the nuggets 5 to 10 times and soak them again in the same mixture. This will ensure proper marination an deodorizing. Remove and squeeze out thoroughly.

Cube onions and tomatoes. Put into a blender, add cream and blend until a smooth paste is formed. Add salt to taste, pepper to taste, a pinch of baking soda and some water. Blend thoroughly again.

Dip deodorized soy nuggets into this mixture. Squeeze a couple of times so that mixture enters the pores of the nugget. Remove and squeeze lightly to remove excess liquid. Put in a baking tray covered in butter paper.

Pre-heat an oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, put the tray in and let bake for 5 minutes. Turn down the heat to 250 degrees Fahrenheit and bake till a crispy coat is formed on the nuggets. The nugget should resemble a chocolate eclair. Hard on the outside and soft inside. Thicker the hard coat, more chewy the nugget. So experiment with times and temperatures.

Serve with grated salad vegetables, Squeeze a lime on the top to enhance the taste.

Buy a good brand, they should last 3 months at least, uncooked that is.

Yum, that sounds great. I love soy nuggets, we eat them all the time. Hadn't much thought about incorporating them into a recipe, however. We just eat them right out of the bag. It's one of the soy products my kids love. I will try this recipe, it sounds great. Thanks for sharing.
