The Symbolism Behind Sparrow Tattoos

If you are thinking about getting a tattoo, chances are that you are doing some research when it comes to finding a design that has meaning. There are a variety of different tattoo designs that you could choose from, but if you are having trouble finding a tattoo design, consider getting a sparrow tattoo.

About Sparrow Tattoos

Not so long ago, sparrows were just though of as birds that you might see in the backyard. However, all of that changed when Johnny Depp’s Pirates of the Caribbean character Jack Sparrow entered the movie world.

Jack Sparrow is a renegade, both humorous and foreboding at the same time. Many men want to have those qualities, and because they admire the character, they are getting a sparrow tattoo. Women are getting sparrow tattoos too, some of them because they are drawn to the sexiness of the character.

There are other reasons besides Johnny Depp why people might be interested in getting a sparrow tattoo. Sparrows also represent freedom, so if someone has just ended a particularly hard period in their life, such as a bad relationship, they might get a sparrow tattoo to show their new independence.

People who do decide to get a sparrow tattoo often get something more to add to the design. For example, they might have the sparrow flying near a flower or sitting on the branch of a cherry blossom tree. Of course, the tattoo might be slightly altered in accordance with whether it is a man or a woman choosing it.

Another reason why people might choose to get a sparrow tattoo is they would like a small tattoo design, but at the same time would like something that can also have a lot of detail. Tattoo artists have the ability to make every last detail show in the tattoo. These kinds of tattoos look especially nice on ankles.

If you are interested in getting a sparrow tattoo, there are a variety of different places that you could look to get that specific design that you want. If your local bookstore has an extensive magazine section, there is probably a tattoo magazine that you can look at.

Also, the internet has many different websites full of tattoo pictures, so be sure to look through those. Of course, once you have found an excellent tattoo parlor, the artists there can help you pick out a design. You are sure to find the right sparrow tattoo with the proper research.

your an idiot... sparrow tattoos were around way before pirates of the carribean the sparrow tattoo symbolizes something for the navy and life at sea thats why the character jack sparrow had it. In the navy you get a sparrow tattooed on you for every thousand miles travelled at sea. Like i said its been around WAY before jack sparrow

I completely agree with Jordan, this article is a complete sham and lacks any research or knowledge. Besides the every thousands miles, people in the Navy also get Sparrows tattooed on them because the Sparrow is the first bird seen before land is spotted, representing safety for many.

The sea sparrow tattoo is actually for every 5,000 nautical miles. You get a nautical star for every 500 miles. I know because I'm in the navy and have more than earned my sea sparrow tattoos. If people are getting them because of Pirates of the Caribbean then they are morons and it is disgraceful to get them if you haven't earned them.

yes i agree with most of you. though i am a pirates fan-sparrow tattoos have almost nothing to do with johnny depp and his movies. sparrows represent freedom and originated in england as most people who got out of jail would tattoo the bird on their hand which represented freedom. tuh duh-easy as pie.
