Before giving birth I began contracting before my water even broke. This concerned me to say the least, being it was my first pregnancy and I had no clue what to expect. I was in labor for eight hours and my body refused to dialate. Finally the doctor broke my water for me and enduced labor. I guess my water bag was too thick to break on its own. So that was how my water broke, hope I was helpful :)
