Specialty Bras

Specialty bras are used by women with special needs. Pregnant women, women with newborn babies, and women with ailments and limited mobility and dexterity wear specialty bras to move around more comfortably. Traditional bras can still be worn but they’ll be less comfortable.

Arthritis bras are made for women who have arthritis or other ailments that limit dexterity. Arthritis bras come with front closures with Velcro with extra-large ‘hook n eye’ fastener to make them easier to fasten.

Bullet bras

Bullet bras are cone shaped bras that help enhance a woman's figure. These types of bras first gained prominence during 1940’s up to 1960’s. It is worn to create a sexier and more erotic look.

Pseudo Bras

Pseudo bras look like real bras but are not bras in the true sense. Bras are basically designed to give support and coverage to the woman’s breasts. Shelf bras and peephole bras are brassieres that do not provide support to the breasts. They are used for sexual situations or as strippers’ outfits.

Shelf bras cover only the lower part of the breasts, leaving the nipples and upper part of the breasts exposed. Some may just be made of straps around the breasts without giving them any coverage at all, leaving the whole breasts exposed.

Peephole bras or peek-a-boo bras may look like a real bra but it has holes at the center leaving the nipples exposed.

What a great idea for a hub! I'm a NYer and have never found the perfect bra although La Perla came close - beautiful but expensive - quality at its best.

Meanwhile, here bras tend to be small, you are lucky to find a C yet we are the biggest people on earth! It was only while I was in Ireland about 7 years ago that I decided to shop for a bra - and wow! - an entire floor dedicated to bras with women waiting to measure you if you want, sizes A-G with everything in between. I got the best bra of my life - but you tend to have a favorite and wear it constantly - but it held up (literally) for years.

I've pretty much given up on the perfect bra - and suffer in silence! Sigh! Perhaps I'll get a bullet bra.

Great hub! Thanks!

Hi BKCreative, a bullet bra? Are you serious? Did you see how ridiculous the pictures are (not the models, the bras)? And I thought for a while there that bullet bras were designed for humor. :) Sorry to people who find this bra fashionable.

I know what you mean about expensive bras. They do tend to know more about a woman's figure, it shows on their products.

A size G? I can hardly understand what DD is, just how big of a bra is G? :0

Btw, thanks for sharing your experience about bras. Some women do tend to know more about what they should look for, others are quite clueless about what they want. Just wear something to cover up and go. ;)
