The Catering Truck
A business on wheels delivering a variety of snacks, beverages and meals either gourmet or pre-packaged can be quite fun and profitable.
A catering truck can be a welcome sight to early morning, day or night shift workers depending upon the quality of available products. We don't want to be serving food poisoning. This business person can be quite successful with the right business approach towards his/her business and the people he/she will come into contact with during their regular stops on a pre-designated route.
This business would require a friendly and personable attitude during each stop over and interaction with customers. Providing top customer service after all is a requisite for a majority of service businesses.
Quality of products will also be a important factor to take into consideration as it will be the products that customers will rave or let pass and we know that word -of- mouth advertising is free and of high value.
This is one business where we must ensure that the vehicle is in top running order and will be reliable therefore visiting with a mechanic is advised. A full inspection of the vehicle must be done prior to the final purchase.
It’s highly recommended that the vehicle be tested for it’s engine performance along with a inspection of all interior parts (sink, refrigerator, stove) and they are in working order. Turn everything on and off like you are about to start business. We do not want to sink more monies into repairs when entering this business venture.
The flip side of required repairs may be that it lowers the asking price. You can negotiate to lower the price for any needed repairs. When the time to make an offer arises it’s recommended that a price of 20 percent (20%) lower than the advertised price is a good starting offer.
Also to consider is the delivery service route. This type of business requires that it’s best to conduct operations in busy and populated business districts that are out of the normal flow of daily traffic.
Locations that are too far or near-inaccessible to nearby competitors. Simultaneously, the driving route must flow in a manner that allows for your timely and convenient arrival for customers. Set your delivery route to providing a convenient service in an area that may need a alternative supplier of food , snacks and beverages.
Contact the manager or owner of the particular business you wish to serve and make arrangements to arrive during designated breaks or meal times but ensure you have permission.

Dame!!! Great Hub! We also had a truck that would come by. We called it the gut truck...he also extended credit to his regulars. The sandwiches were great and we would stand outside in line waiting for him to arrive. I worked in the city and unlike tom there were hundreds of restaraunts, but who wants to drive in the luch time traffic. The "gut" truck was a great convenience.
I loved the Catering truck back in the city also. They are awesome and get decorated so they just look cute, lol. Glad you enjoyed! :)

We used to have a catering truck that stopped by our office every day, but he retired and no one has taken his place. Since there are no stores and only two restaurants anywhere near us, he is sorely missed.
Thanks for writing about this unique business.
