Spring 2008 Fashion - What to Shop for this Season

What do you see when you flip through the clothes in your closet? Well, if you're like me, your wardrobe is fraught with the deep, dark, depressing colors of last fall/winter. But then again, I'm a mortician and black is sort of a must for me :)

Still, I wanted more. I searched for a "happy" looking garment to show off my femininity, something fresh, something to revive my spirit. But I had no luck. Before grabbing my checkbook and heading to the local shopping mall, I decided to take a refresher course in the latest Spring/Summer fashion. Here's what we need to know about fashion this season...

Spring is all about life! So for this season's fashion, look for bright and bold colors. Feel free to let nature inspire the hue. Here's what to look for:

• Lemon Yellow
• Blood Red
• Cerulean Blue
• Violaceous Purple
• Tangerine Orange
• Hot Fuchsia
• Viridian Green

Floral prints are hot this season and many designers are intrigued by the floral trends of the 30's and 40's with big, fun blossoms.

Huge sunglasses are here to stay, but this season's styles throw some other accessories into the mix. Big, floppy-brimmed hats are trendy as well as thick headbands and scarves that boast bold print designs. To freshen up the belt scene, the belts on the runway are more sleek, shiny, and thin this season. Quite a change from those really wide belts weighing down the racks last year!

These seriously feminine skirts are still hot! The bubble skirts this season have been revamped with sheer overlays of fabric to give them an extra soft edge. They are great for showing off our sexy curves, yet they still allow for free movement and easy strides.

Many styles of shorts graced the runways this season. The hottest ones were high-waisted and complemented with a belt. The shorts this season are also flaunting longer lengths. No "Daisy Dukes" for me this year!

These nifty jumpsuit-type outfits hit the fashion scene hard this season. So, look for functional one-piece suits to show off your spring beauty.

It's okay to look more masculine this season if you want. Many designers are exhibiting sport coats, neckties, suits, and ascot-type scarves fit for a woman. Have fun bending the rules this spring with some fun boyish clothes!

70's inspired fashion really climbed this season's fashion ladder. So go out there and find some high-waisted pants, shorts, and skirts. Don't forget the off-shoulder tops and eye-catching prints!
