If you are anything like me, you’re constantly looking forward to time off. Whether it’s a break from school, work, or just the normal routine, I cherish an opportunity to get away. And, perhaps the best stretch of time off that we get each year is spring break, an entire week to celebrate the end of winter and the coming of spring. While it has always been tradition that spring break should naturally lead us to the beach or some other warm destination, there’s plenty of reasons to forgo this norm and instead head to the mountains. And, when I say mountains, I naturally think of a Breckenridge vacation.

Spring break in the snow. Heading to Breckenridge for spring break isn’t just an excuse I use to get out of putting on a bathing suit. While it might not be beach weather, spring in Breck promises sunny days that are perfect for spring skiing. You might not be able to lose the winter coat altogether, but warmer spring days leave many skiers and boarders ditching the heavy coats for lighter gear. So, sure there will be snow on the ground, but that’s part of the attraction. And, if you’re lucky enough to plan your trip in April, you’ll enjoy spring skiing at it’s best during Spring Massive. This celebration brings the whole town together for live music, a beer festival, and a taste of local eats.

More of the attraction. The obvious attraction is the world-class skiing and boarding at the Breckenridge Ski Resort. Four peaks, the highest chairlift in North America, and a variety of terrain for all skill levels are only a few of the many reasons that the Breckenridge ski mountain is the top choice for Summit County locals. But, if someone in your group doesn’t share in the excitement of skiing, there are so many other things to do in Breckenridge. Of course, activities such as snowshoeing and sled riding are popular in the winter, but there’s even options for those who just want to be out of the snow altogether. Main Street offers endless shops, restaurants, and art boutiques. And, there’s no shortage of museums and other historic spots that are worthy of a visit.

Safety in numbers. If you’re planning a spring break trip, chances are you are looking for a place to accommodate your family or a group of friends. That’s no problem in Breckenridge. Families love the variety that Breckenridge offers in terms of group activities. Your family can choose from a horse-drawn carriage ride or a dog sledding tour. Or, if you’re travelling with friends, book a guide to take your crew fly fishing, or rent ATVs to explore the back country. And, you’ll have no problem finding accommodations for your crew in Breckenridge. Whether you’re looking for a Breckenridge condo, vacation home, or ski-in, ski-out rental, the options are plentiful.

Ease of travel. Despite what some may think, Breckenridge is an easy travel destination. Keep your eyes out for discounted ski deals on flights into Denver International Airport, an eighty mile drive from Breckenridge. While many worry about travelling snow-packed roads in Colorado, you can rest assured that the Department of Transportation is well-equipped to keep mountain roads cleared and de-iced. And, of course, if you don’t have a car, you don’t have to worry. The Town of Breckenridge offers a free shuttle around town.

So, if you want to find the perfect destination that your entire crew can agree upon, look no farther than the beautiful mountain town of Breckenridge. Take advantage of your time off and get to Breckenridge for spring break. And, don’t leave that bathing suit at home; you’ll need it for frequent soaks in the hot tub.
