Spring weather in the mountains of British Columbia can be very unpredicatible. In the valley, which is where I live, it is a little easier to handle and if you happen to live in the Okanagan Valley, spring weather is something you can boast about. In the mountains, it can be sunshine one minute and a snow blizzard the next.

However, this spring has been terrible. We have not seen our old spring sunshine much at all. It has been below the average daily temperatures here. I've also been following the weather in Ontario because that is where my two kids live and also I used to live there so I always like to compare the weather there with the weather here.

The weather today, however, in British Columbia, was really nice. I went for a little drive earlier and one of the electronic signs showed the weather and it showed that it was 31 degrees Celsius. At first, that didn't register in my brain. I am used to seeing temperatures in the 30 and even 40 degree Celsius range during the summer months. So, we drove by that sign and then all of a sudden, it registered in my head, after we had gone by it.

"That sign back there just said the temperature was 31 degrees Celsius," I said to my husband.

"I thought so," he said to me.

"It can't be right," I said. "It can't be 31."

I went home and looked at the temperature online and on the television. On my computer it said the temperature was 26 degrees and on the television it said it was 27. We have noticed that we could always add a couple of degrees to what the television says so we came to the conclusion that it very well could have been 31 degrees Celsius.

It is the May 24th weekend here, or Victoria Day weekend. Usually May 24th weekend is cold, rainy and crappy, but not this year. In Canada, the May 24th weekend is also the weekend everyone starts their spring planting. May 24th weekend is usually the unofficial start of our summer. The official start to summer is June 21, 2009.

Hopefully spring will lighten up soon for you! You can borrow some of ours, if you wish. If you don't mind a small chance at fire season.

Hi Ixxy, thank you for your comment. It is getting nicer. We actually had one day warmer than 30 degrees Celsuis.
