Spyzooka Introduction

Spyzooka is a anti spyware program from BluePenguin Software that was first launched during 2004.

Spyzooka has become quite well established and recieved some positive reviews from both the IT press and users alike, however like any anti spyware it has to keep with the new and ever demanding challenges of modern spyware programs and viruses.

That's what this article is about - we know Spyzooka got a number of awards and positive press when it was launched but is it still as effective at identifiying and destroying ALL current spyware programs? I put it to the test!

About Spyzooka

As mentioned previously Spyzooka was created in 2004 by Carl Haugen, President of BluePenguin Software. He created Spyzooka after his computer got infected and couldnt solve the problem using existing free or paid for software

Spyzooka launched to quite a fanfare of marketing and publicity hype and won a number of awards from respected industry bodies.Spyzooka is unque in that it provides a 100% guarantee of complete spyzware removal.

My Spyzooka Review

I've actually used Spyzooka in the past but I wasnt a big fan of the early version, it was quite good at removing spyware when it worked but it was a bit clunky, slow to open and run and prone to crashing.

Once you have a bad experience it takes alot to go back, however as a result of a recent spyware infection I did try Spyzooka again and here's my Spyzooka review.

First of all I tried the free Spyzooka computer scan, I was a bit sceptical of this at first but I tested on two computers, one of which I knew was clean and the free scan came back clean on my infected computer it picked up a number of spyware issues.

I was impressed with how lightweight, quick to install and run and how reliable (didnt crash once!) the latest version of Spyzooka is, however I did find the menu system pretty annoying and it took a little bit of getting used to.

However all of this is secondary really as the important thing is did Spyzooka identify and remove all my Spyware?

The answer is yes! (I suppose you can never be 100% sure as you can't know what the computer doesnt find!).

Spyzooka was able to find and destroy the x2 Spyware programs that has installed themselves in various locations on my computer as well as another dodgy looking program.

Price is always an important factor. I'm not interested in the free programs, they just are not as effective (good for picking up obvious problems) but there are cheaper spyware programs and online scanners, however I think the price is about right (don't tell them that though!) for what you get. Its much more expensive to get your PC rebuilt!

Spyzooka Review - Conclusion

So all in all I'm pretty impressed with Spyzooka. It does what it says on the tin - which is removes all of your spyware and malware programs and it does it without a big fuss.

Its improved alot over the years and apart from a few menu issues (and the fact its not free) I can't really complain, so my spyzooka review score is 4 out of 5!

If you've used Spyzooka or another anti spyware program I'd be interested to hear your views (espesically if its free!) as well - there are probably other programs that do a similar job to Spyzooka.
