Staph Infections
70Staph Infections and You
I saw on the local news tonight a story about the rise of Staph Infections. Staph Infections are a bacteria that you get from touching things other people have had their hands on and it makes you break out in blister type sores that can sometimes cover large areas of your body. The news story told about a woman who had contacted it from a dirty exercise mat at a local health spa. Doctors say the best way to avoid staph infections is to wash your hands any time you have handled something someone else has touched.
Which brings me to my story. If the above is true, what about all the things we touch on a daily basis? Take doors for instance, everytime you go into a store you have to handle a door knob or push bar that has been handled by hundreds if not thousands of people, and do they disinfect those doors? How often? What about shopping carts where you buy groceries? Sure theres public toilets and a lot of them have motion activated water for washing and flushing and theres the push button dryers you can nudge with an elbow or shoulder. In that respect theres been an improvement, but what about all the other things we touch? like public phones, gas pumps, and self serve checkouts? And don't forget ATM's which we nearly all use. I have always felt that the one thing that carries the most germs is money something everybody touches. I always wash my hands after touching money even if its to count whats in my wallet, and you see people from time to time kissing money because they say that they love it so much ug! I love money too but not enough to have a physical relationship with it, and say how often do you ever shake hands with somebody and ask them when was the last time they washed their hands? that would be rude but its something to think about. Makes you want to put on a pair of rubber gloves everytime you go somewhere. I've never had a staph infection and hope I never have one, but it just goes to show what a nasty old world we really do live in.

i ask you, what does this say about curing or treating the infection? i can agree that the world is a dirty place and we all should take personal responsibility in preventing the spread of the infection. in ways like you mentioned before, washing hands etc. perhaps a suggestion in treating will be handy for those that cant afford a doctor bill.
