Star Wars 30th year anniversary
67Star Wars - the legacy
In 1977, a small science fiction film captured the imagination of millions worldwide. Thirty years later, the movie, Star Wars, remains top, not just as a movie favorite, but also a pop culture mark. There aren't many "movements", philosophy, or way of life, for lack of better words, that are adopted by multi- generations with universal enthusiasm. Kids who grew up watching "Star Wars" are now passing it on to their kids.
Recently, I've had the pleasure of working with a group of Star Wars fans, better known as the 501st Legions for a scholarship fundraiser. These guys are your everyday working folks with such love for the movie that they use almost any excuse they can find to dress up as one of the characters in public. Lucky for us, the best excuses are when you help others, such as charities, visiting children's/veteran's hospitals and fundraisers (like Nuvein Foundation). When you ask anyone of them as to why they do this, they'll say because "it's cool!" with the same child-like enthusiasm that they and we all had 30 years ago.

Our foundation, Nuvein Foundation, gives out scholarships to students of literature and creative arts. We managed to give out 4 scholarships instead of 2 from last year as a result of the 501st's participation in our fundraiser.

Very nice page. Thanks for the info on the 501st Legions. We've been looking for something our legion could do for community service. Maybe an areonautics scholarship or something like that. Thanks again.
