Star Wars: The Clone Wars Republic Heroes One Minute Review

Fans of Star Wars both old and young can enact the enormous space battles and excitement of The Clone Wars in Star Wars : The Clone Wars Republic Heroes. Players can choose from any of their favorite Jedi featured in the popular animated series on Cartoon Network, including characters like Captain Rex and Anakin Skywalker. The plot of the video game fills in the story points between seasons one and two of the television show, bringing you on a complex adventure to thwart a mechanical assassin's plans for domination.

Republic Heroes is based around the cooperative actions of two players, and the gameplay is easy enough for the whole family to grasp, much like the far-reaching mythos of the Star Wars universe. This storyline is completely new to the Clone Wars series of tales that span the films and animated television show, and includes the original appearances of Cad Bane, a new bounty hunter, and Kul Teska, a new supervillain from Skakoa.

Available: Wii, PS2, PS3, PSP Games, XBox, DS

If you are hoping for enormous space battles then Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Republic Heroes should make you happy. This is an explosive, lightsaber-duel filled action game that is set in the Clone Wars universe. The game was made popular by the CG animated series. Publisher LucasArts reports that Star Wars: Clone Wars was the number one rated show of 2008 on Cartoon Network. Can Republic Heroes cause the same stir?

Republic Heroes fills the void where season one ends and season two begins. This preserves the atmosphere of the series and creates a contiguous storyline within the Star Wars Universe. The game utilized screen writers from the show to keep the dialogue consistent. Character modes, information and animations were shared by the series creators and worked into the fabric of the game by developer, Krome Studios. The aim was to create a game that felt like a continuation of the series.

Clone Wars Offers 10 Clone Trooper Templates

In-game missions and assignments are split between the Jedi and the Clone missions. The player can select one of eight Jedi character templates that can be used to battle evil, tyranny and their armies of droyds across the galaxy. Jedi Combat is portrayed at close-range so you as the player can interact with foes, use astonishing Jedi powers and lightsabers to crush your enemies. Using one of the 10 clone trooper templates, the player does combat as a third-person to simulate the heavy gun combat carried out by the clones.

Republic Heroes - You Can Get Some Backup

Thankfully for the good guys, you won't be alone against the droid forces. The cooperative play structure of Republic Heroes means that there is another player who can jump in and back you up when you are outnumbered and in need of help. This echos another retail giant in the LucasArts Universe: LEGO Star Wars. Obviously, there are no LEGO pieces on your screen when you play Republic Heroes, but they both use multiplayer cast.

Most moves utilize a single button but Jedi can access the powers of the Force, such as the Force Push to swipe the droids off the field. Jedi in Republic Heroes can even perform a great maneuver that allows the Jedi to jack droids. By sitting atop any droid with their lightsaber thrust into the fighter and control its actiols for a time. A player can solve problems that can be solved only with droid weapons arrays.

Faced Paced Clone Missions & Trial Missions

The fast-paced clone missions evolves continuously and soon you'll be pulled into the epic battle, shooting with extreme prejudice. The trial mission sets you up defending a space station which is beset by droids from all directions. There are a lot of armaments available to you. You can also use objects and scenery as protection and create explosions with grenades. On a 360, you can maneuver the clone trooper easily by using the left joystick and you can shoot all around by using the joystick on the right. Krome Studios studied dual analog shooters and developed their controllers by adapting them. It is a good system. Republic Heroes for Wii uses the Wii remote for designating targets and aiming. This isn't totally easy, but can be mastered with just a little time.

This looks just a little to action oriented for me! I loved the Star Wars: Old republic as it allowed me to have more control of the battles -strategically that is...ah well may try this one too!
