Just how awesome was Captain James T. Kirk? Well, put it this way. In Star Trek III, the Admiral told him the Enterprise was "20 years old." Now Kirk flew that ship through cosmic clouds, 11,000 mile long single cell organisms, asteroid spaceships, negative anti-energy zones, the Mutara Nebula and about 1,000 light years of aliens, Klingons, photon torpedos and green women.
And after 20 years, it was parked outside while Kirk visited the bar. 'nuff said.
The best part of this scene was not the "it's... it's... it's green" line, nor was it the aliens that turn people into salt tablets while Kirk entertained the female alien in his quarters. It was the music. Then again, about half the appeal of the original series was the music anyway.
Yep. This just about explains the entire series in only two sentences. Starfleet security had to be just about the most difficult job on or off Earth in the 23rd century.
