Is there hope for future public health care?

Can they ever get the right kind of care?

As an advocate for those who suffer from grave emotional and mental disabilities I have seen many consumers faced with the everyday challenges of choosing from food or medication! Often times the consumer chooses to eat as they know that this is the basic criteria to living!

Once they choose food and the basic needs of life over their health care then they start a spiral downfall in their health! They become extremely unstable and eventually end up back in that viscous cycle of their symptoms and living on the system!

What is wrong with this picture? Our own state and federal aid has caused these consumers to be stuck in a rut! For every two steps forward they take eventually they find themselves taking four steps backwards!

Has society gotten to a point that we are all about the almighty dollar rather than humanity?

Our legislators allow the pharmaceutical companies to dictate how the indigent will be medically treated!

This limits the recovery for the patient and creates a high cost to the tax payer because of the high cost financial aid for public assistance in recovery and rehabilitation!

Often individuals that live with in the elements of having a diagnosis of one form or another of mental illnesses are discriminated on because they are forced to be repeat offenders of public in patient health care treatment centers (For lack of better words Psychiatric hospitals).

One of the saddest issues in our own system is that it is these individuals that take the blame for allot of the crimes, the high debts in the welfare system through out each state, and having to revamp the health care system.

General society seems to think that consumers that have been diagnosed with such illnesses are faking or the symptoms are not as severe as they are presented. However the sad truth is the symptoms are as severe and if gone untreated individuals make irrational decisions that does affect the general society safety!

However consumers that are maintained with on going medications and therapy have a higher success rate and are less likely to relapse! Our government has limited the success rate and has infringed on these citizens rights to having access to health care.  Legislators have gotten to where they are more willing to line their pockets with money than stand to the very oath they took when they were sworn into office!

Matthew I cannot add anything to your incredibly well written hub except that society is only as strong as our weakest link. Americans should be ashamed!
