Gas Wildcating is Positive

The Norwegian Supermajor, has encountered gas in an estimated 600 million and 3 billion cubic meters sized discovery of recoverable gas in production license 159D in the Norwegian Sea.

The Norwegian Giant hit gas in wildcat well 6507/3-7, which lies two kilometres north-west of the 6507/3-3 gas discovery (Idun) and about 10 kilometres north of the 6507/5-1 oil/gas discovery (Skarv).
The wildcat well 6507/3-7, which  was drilled by the Ocean Vanguard drilling facility will now proceed to production licence 074 in the Norwegian Sea to drill wildcat well 6407/2-5 S for StatoilHydro.

According to the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate, the well proved gas in the Fangst group.

Enormous potential abound for additional volumes beyond the proven gas volumes and further delineation of the discovery will be considered.

The licensees in the production licence will consider producing the discovery via Skarv.
