Many mums are unable to leave the house for work due to their young kids. However, times are bad and every little extra income helps in providing a better life for the family. Many mums tried to look for legitimate stay at home jobs, but are overwhelmed by the many scams out there promising high returns as long as you pay for some so called secret exclusive information.

The truth is these work at home scams act on greed and ignorance. If you are feeling weaker emotionally due to stress and financial problems, you can easily become a victim of these scams that promise to be the solution to all your troubles. Well, these stay at home job scams are in fact the start of your nightmares.

Before looking for a stay at home jobs for mums, you need to write down what skills you have and the type of jobs that can be performed at home without commuting to the office. Do not restrict yourself to mundane stuff such as stuff envelopes, data entry, filling in forms and stuff that pay you one cent per task.

For example, if you have held an administrative position previously, you can apply for virtual assistant jobs. If you have done sales and particularly lead prospecting, you will be able to land a telemarketer position easily. And if you enjoy writing essays, opinions and insights, you can offer to write content for major websites and blogging networks. The type of work available online is truly diverse and wide ranging.

Sometimes it is a matter of not knowing how useful and valuable a particular skill set of knowledge of your can be. Do you know there are many stay at home mums doubling as online shopping guides and gurus? They get to enjoy buying products over the internet, and posting their honest unbiased reviews (many outspoken mums even bitch about crappy products to their hearts content). Best of all, they get paid and receive positive feedbacks and encouragements from their fans online.

To find a good stay at home job, you will need to keep your eyes open, especially when searching online. Learn to filter away loud advertisements claiming to make you a millionaire and earning money while you are sleeping...that kinda stuff screams scam a hundred miles away. Having lotsa friends and contacts help a lot in receiving information on real work at home and internet jobs, as long as you know they are not trying to sell you something themselves or earning a commission by pushing you over the edge to scam hell.

Sometimes, rather than haunting the online job websites and forums for job openings every hour day and night, you can write a proper resume and leave it at a job agency that will try to match you to a proper job position as long as you provide sufficient details on your qualifications and expectations. You can also contact potential employers such as the owner of a particular website directly. When you do not have much of a portfolio and testimonials for online work such as blog posting, article writing, product reviews, website design, website maintenance etc, offer to work for free for a few gigs to learn he ropes and get references for a start. These will often help you establish credibility and may be the beginning of a rewarding stay at home job partnership.

As budding work at home mums, do not fall for the incredible promises and keep your emotions in check. There are about a million times more scammers than a kind helping hand online. Ask yourself why someone would want spend time helping you earn $500,000 by the next week when they can use the time to become billionaires themselves. Why do they "kind souls" want your $100 membership fee so desperately when they are earning $1000 every hour as they claimed to be? When you see that they keep telling you all the benefits but nothing about the actual work involved, run as fast as you can from such stay at home job scams. Remind yourself at this stage, you are only trying to find a stay at home job that allows you to supplement the family income while being able to take care of your young kids.
