My own Little Bundle of Joy!
My own Little Bundle of Joy!

Being a stay at home mom is a lot of work. It is rewarding and often fun, but on the other hand sometimes it is hard and stressful. When working with one income to run a household in a world that often requires two...things can get a little intentse.

The suggestions I am going to make here aren't going to make you rich. I am not going to lie to you and many of the things I suggest start out slow. In fact, earning money on the internet is often slow. It is like starting a small business, without the capital. It will take time, and energy before it is making enough money to be worth your time. But, it will eventually be worth your time.

Not only that, you can do it at your own pace and when you can with your children at home. You can work on it before they get up, while they watch Mr. Roger's, or while they nap. Whenever you can fit it into your schedule you can work on helping your family's financial situation out.

Some of the things here are things you might love, others you might not enjoy doing. Always do the things you enjoy, it will make it easier to stick with it.

Blogging for Money

While blogging takes the longest to make money from it, it is easy and takes only the tiniest bit of time. You have complete control over the topics you cover and with a little work can have a great blog. It does, however require that you post regularly. For a really good blog, you should post at least three times a week, once a day is even better.

Ads are the first way that you can earn money from a blog. Often times this is a slow process. After all it takes traffic to make money and time and effort to get traffic. Over time though, this can be a big money maker.

A second, much more immediate option is to have sponsored posts. This is where an advertiser will pay you to write about them on your blog. You follow their directions, they pay you, usually through PayPal. It is that simple. You can make money on this after your blog is sixty days old and even more so after your blog is ninety days old.

Blogs can be free and easy to use. My favorite easy to use free blog is at Blogger.com. There are others including Wordpress.org. Many of these take a little time to get used to and to improve upon, but you can use Adsense and sponsored posts on all of them.

Writing for Money

Often writing for money feels more intimidating. However, it can be simple and it can start making you money quicker. At first most programs that you look into will only make you a few cents here and a few cents there, but if you work hard and keep at it you will eventually be making dollars and then more then just a buck or two.

There are lots of programs out there. I haven't tried them all. I won't recommend a program I haven't tried, but here are some I have tried and how I have faired with them.

Hubpages-I am fairly new here and this being my frist "hub" I haven't made any money yet. However, I have heard some very good things and am hopeful about my future here. Hubpages is a revenue sharing site that gives you 60% of the page impressions with your e-bay and Amazon affiliates and your Google Adsense. It has the potential to make you a couple of hundred dollars a month (I think).

Helium-Many people complain about Helium, but I think that if you are worried about not being a good writer, Helium is a great place to go. Their set up makes it easy to find topics to write on and you start earning your pennies quickly. Over time you can develop a good passive income. I will make about $25 this month (compared to my $10 last month) and next month should be more then that. It isn't a ton, but over time I hope to have it up to $100-200 a month. They also have contests and a market place with publishers looking for articles (I don't use these much), but they can make you a lot of money, much quicker.

Associated Content-AC as it is called by many is slightly different. They allow you to publish lots of different kinds of media and they pay with two different formats. When you go to publish an article you have two options. The first is upfront payment. This is where they will choose to pay you for your article or not. If they do pay upfront it will be between $3-20. Fewer and fewer articles get upfront payment because they won't pay you for an article that has information similar to what is already on their site. However, most articles can be published and recieve performance pay (in fact all your material will recieve performance pay). Performance pay is currently $1.50 for every 1000 page views your materials recieve. AC pays upfront payments within a week and performance pay at the beginning of each month as long as you have $1.50 or more. It is easy, payment is quick, and that helps out a lot.

Triond-Triond is a unique program. They will take your media (all types) and publish it on partner sites. This often gets more views then normal and you get a portion of the revenue. At first you don't get much, but over time it does grow. You can also use this as a first stop for publishing content you want on several websites.

Squidoo-Squidoo has some similarities to Hubpages. It is fun and easy to use. In order to make money with your "lenses" you have to work on promoting them, however once you do that you can make money from them. It takes more time then with some other sites, but it is really fun building the pages. Plus when your lens earns $15 they give you a free $5!

howtodothings.com-howtodothings.com uses your Google Adsense, much like Hubpages. Except they are geared toward step by step how to's. You can make a nice amount of page impressions there and your earnings depend on the number of clicks you get.

There are more, however these are my favorite programs. Others I am not as familure with or haven't yet tried out. I will update this list as I increase my knowledge.

Paid to...

Okay, so now you are paniced if you don't enjoy writing. After all, everything I have suggested involves writing of some sort. Don't worry, there are other options out there, I just enjoy writing and that is what I do most of the time. Because of this I am most familure with it and have tried more programs.

Getting paid to do things is one avenue many people will suggest you avoid. However, it takes very little work and you can make a decent amount of money, over time and with work. All of these programs work best if you build a down line (have referrals under neath you). For some people (Me! Me!) this is hard to do. Others seem to build a down line quickly and easily. None of these are MLM or strange scams, they just pay you 50-100% your referrals earnings.

Paid to Read...With paid to read programs, you are sent e-mails. You then get paid to "read" them, which usually requires clicking on a link. These things can be done while you are in the process of doing other things. You get paid a very small amount per e-mail, so this isn't a way to get rich fast or anything. You usually get paid per referral sign up and a percentage of what they make. This can help your earnings increase a great deal. Two programs I have heard are really good are Inbox Dollars and Send Earnings.

Paid to Sign Up...Paid to sign up programs pay you to join other programs, take trial offers, and complete other offers. This one always scares me since not all of it is free. However, there are some that claim this makes them a lot of money. I would be careful giving out credit card numbers on this one though. Make sure you know where the cancelation option is and when they are planning on charging your account.

Paid to Click...Paid to click programs are ones that I have been trying out lately. You get paid a small fee to click on links. The page then has to be up for five to thirty seconds and you make your money. I work for ones where I get one to two cents for a click, plus .5-1 cent for my referral's clicks. I do this while writing articles and making pages (such as this one). I wouldn't say it is a great way to get rich, but with referrals you can make a nice sum each month. I have tried several programs in the last few months. I would recommend Bux.to a lot. They only have a few ads, usually about 15 a day. However, they are always up, prompt on payment and on keeping everything in order. Plus they still pay with PayPal. The other one I am part of is Daily Clicks. They pay more if you upgrade, which you can do for a one time fee. They have more ads, but are down and have had issues with PayPal and are now paying by AlertPay. However, the number of ads there make it worth while even though it feels like a bigger risk.

These programs can help add to your monthly household. It takes time to get referrals, but when you do it is well worth it. You can earn a nice little chunk of change.

There are lots of options out there and this isn't a complete list. However, you can do these things without any special skills or knowledge. All you need is a little time, effort, dedication, and determination. You can blog and write what you know and perform paid to click and paid to read programs while doing it. This can, over time, make a fair amount of money. I started six months ago. The first month I made $30. Then $50. Then $100. Then 300. Then $200 (yep, sometimes you have to go back!). Last month I made over $500. It can be done, but you have to stick with it and work hard.
