Custom Blogger Templates

To use your own custom templates, you will first need to download a template you like.

There are a lot of great sites with cool blogger templates. The best ones are adaptions from wordpress templates, so you can have a free blogger blog using a customized wordpress template.

A good site you can get custom blogger templates is btemplates.com

Once you have picked which template you want to use, click on the download link, or the "Live demo" link if you would like to see it hosted on a demo blog.

Step by step guide

Step 1. Head on over to btemplates.com.

Step 2. Select a template. For this guide we're going to click on Web 2.0 category on the sidebar. Then we're going to select Zinmag Primus, because it looks pretty :)

Step 3. Click on the "Download" button right under the snapshot of the template. You can also click on the picture itself to view the template demo of Zinmag Primus.

Step 4. Extract the file you downloaded, I use winrar to extract my files. You will see the zinmag primus xml file, along with instructions and other notes/pictures.

Step 5. Upload your template on Blogger. To do this, go to your blog dashboard, then click on "Layout". Under Layout there will be several options, select "Edit HTML". From there you will have the option of uploading your Zinmag Primus XML file. Once you finish uploading your brand new pretty looking wordpress-like template, click on "View Blog"

You're done, now all you have to do is personalize the template. This template comes with instructions from the maker, which can be found on the same page you downloaded it from. Zinmag Primus Instructions.

Enjoy your professional looking template :)

I'd like to add this little tidbit.

How to remove Blogger's Navbar

Put in this code on the top of your template, in the <head> part.

#navbar-iframe {
display: none !important;
}

It should look something like this: (used on a default minima template)

/*
-----------------------------------------------
Blogger Template Style
Name:     Minima
Designer: Douglas Bowman
URL:      www.stopdesign.com
Date:     26 Feb 2004
Updated by: Blogger Team
----------------------------------------------- */
#navbar-iframe {
display: none !important;
}
/* Variable definitions

This is only for those built in templates as most custom templates already remove blogger's navbar.

Do you get some type of error when you try to upload your new template?
