Steve Pavlina is Evil

About 12 months ago browsing looking for something written about purpose of life, I landed in the home page of a site called Steve Pavlina dot com. The description of the site says "personal development for smart people." I got hooked to the site for about 1 month regularly reading the articles and downloading the podcasts. There are hundreds of articles and 20 podcasts. He writes about many things like how to be an early riser to how to stop drinking coffee. He also writes about how one can know their life purpose in about 20 minutes...wow. His best podcast I liked much and listened to many times is the one where he talks about subjective reality. The titles of his posts and articles are very attractive like "ten reasons you should never get a job" and "30 days to success."

His is the first best blog I came across and still return regularly. I got inspired by him and wrote my first post in Hubpages. He also writes about blogs and about how to make money from blogs. He writes about goals, courage, time management, career, money, religion and meditation. His personal story is very attractive and there is a lot of drama in it. He writes well and naturally has a good traffic and he monetized his blog. He claims to be making good money from his blog, though on his own admission he is not very greedy. I personally enjoy his writings because he writes in a flow and he is a very logical type of a guy and he seems very honest.

Among other things, he also writes reviews and endorses products that he likes. Recently, he wrote a very long interesting post on a service called Site Build It. It is an all-in-one solution for creating and building an online business. You pay an annual fee for the service, and they provide you with all the tools you need to build an income-generating web site.

At the end of the post giving the reason for promoting the service, Steve Pavlina says "Of course my sinister ulterior motive is that I need to make sure you have enough money to buy my book when it comes out, not to mention copies for all your friends and family! I know... I'm evil, but it's a good kind of evil." Now, it is a known fact that these companies pay a lot of money in commissions when some one like Steve Pavlina endorses it. There is a medium sized blog totally promoting this service and making a lot of money.

Now, why Steve Pavlina is trying to hide this fact by voluntarily giving an explanation for the post. There may be three reasons. One, he is still having bad thoughts linked to money even now somewhere in the corner of his brain. Two, he thinks his readers are not as smart as they think they are. And the third one is ......sorry I don't know the third one.

Steve Pavlina is evil, may be a good one.

Update: Folks I just wanted to use an attractive title and negative titles do attract. Forget about the title and just visit Steve on his website.... he is definitely fascinating.

I'm not sure I understand what you are trying to day. Most of the article talks about what a great site he has...but then you are saying he is evil because he is promoting a product that would make him money?

I only ask because I too just stumbled across his page and am fascinated by his readings....the more power to him if he's making money with products too!

Yes virtuallymaggie I do believe he is fascinating. I just wanted the title to be attractive and negative titles do attract.

I'm pretty sure you spelled "endorses" wrong.

I was wondering what the connection to the article was myself. Good you eventually made it in the comment. I think you should have put it in your closing remarks.

Trev I am pretty sure I haven't clicked on the spell-checker. Thank you for pointing out but you left out "many thinks". I haven't proofread either, would do that as soon as time permits.

Taiwo I would do that.

My pleasure Lissie. Till now negative title did what I thought it would do, no trouble yet. I will change the title when/if the trouble comes.

Hey there,

Yes, I agree. Steve Pavlina is evil, too. I have been reading his site for two years. Listening to his podcasts.

That evil man even made me purchase The Journal software, which, unfortunately, along with meditation and yoga, stopped me from ending my life.

Steve Pavlina: one truly evil dude!

Yes of course Amanda, I listen to this evil person's podcasts regularly and they do motivate me a lot. Every time I listen to them, they convey a new meaning.

A negative title does attract.

A bought an Indian Edition of Personal Development for Smart People in the Good Life Series. The book had a good of the ideas. I was inspired and already prepared a Powerpoint presentation for young people.

The negative title gave me the first notion that Steve Pavlina was BS, but it proved that he write no nonsense.

I will enhance his teachings to youth.
