Spielberg and Jackson plan to release Tintin movies soon.

If you used to read Tintin comics when young, you would love this news. Tintin is going to be on screen very soon. Variety magazine reports that Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson are teaming up to produce a trilogy of Tintin feature films. Kathleen Kennedy will be the third producer for this collaboration. Both will be directing at least one of the three Tintin movies.

Tintin series chronicles his adventures as a junior reporter who follows stories to various countries and places and finds his life in jeopardy, danger but comes out of top in the end solving mysteries and cases. He is accompanies by a white dog Snowy, the abrasive Captain Haddock, Professor Calculus, and the funny Thompson Twins.

Spielberg said the Tintin movies will be made similar to the Polar Express movie which employed a motion-captured 3D technique. He said, "Herge's characters have been reborn as living beings, expressing emotion and a soul which goes far beyond anything we've seen to date with computer animated characters".

Steven Spielberg has been trying to get the rights to Tintin for the last 25 years it seems finally he has got his wish. His recent movies War of the Worlds and Munich was not a major blockbuster unlike his previous movies. Hopefully this Tintin movie and trilogy will become a major hit. Peter Jackson might be sharing similar enthusiasm for making this trilogy, much different from his biggest hit “Lord of the Rings”.

According to Variety, Spielberg and Jackson have selected three stories from Remi's "The Adventures of Tintin" series. Tintin series has 23 books published between 1929 and 1976. The series even now is popular; it attracts more than 2 million fans a year. They have sold more than 200 million copies worldwide.

I used to read a lot growing up and still curse like Captain Haddock. Will you watch this Tintin movies?

I wonder if this will actually ever happen? I've been waiting for a Tintin movie to come out since i was 12. Now i'm 19. I guess I'll believe it when i see it. And this is the first i've heard of it being 3D, but portraying Tintin as a real person has never worked in the past, so the 3D thing is probably a good idea.

Do you know which 3 books are going to become movies?

Kalindi, I am not sure, they may take a story based on Tintin and have a new one as well. But most likely it will be one of the main Tintin stories first (maybe Tintin in Tibet :) ).
