Stinky Chicken

Bet I got someone's attention here! Actually, the name of this recipe has a reasonable history, so here I go:

When I began cooking with a Crock Pot many years ago, my then 8 year old son, Aaron, had something cheeky to say about this particular method of cooking. So when I came up with this specific dish, Aaron was horrified at the aroma of onions that wafted through the house. Hence, "Stinky Chicken". Believe me, it is heavenly...if you like onions.

Ingredients

2 cans of Cream of Celery Soup

2 2oz. cans of sliced mushrooms, do not drain

1 cup white rice

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

2 packages Lipton Dry Onion Soup Mix

2 cups frozen broccoli

Instructions

Grease the Crock Pot and combine the soup, mushrooms, rice, and broccoli.

Place the chicken breasts so they fit quite nicely (!)

Sprinkle the dry soup mix over all.

Cover and cook on the low heat setting for 5 hours.

Of Critical Importance...

Ignore your child's remarks and enjoy!

This sounds good - I've recently bought a slow cooker (as we call them in the UK) and I'm on the look-out for good recipes.

Just one question - why frozen broccoli and not fresh?

Thanks everyone, and I do hope you give it a try-we love it!

Suki-the frozen variety gives the mix just enough water so the rice mix comes out just right.

You are something else girl. Stinky chicken was a hit with my husband, Richard, he just loves anything with Mushrooms, me on the other hand I have to be careful especially with onion as well, I would be so "windy", hahah I could just blow up and float away, what fun that would be. Catch you later on BB

Really? You tried it? I am honored, thanks...I guess you'd have to agree with my son about the onions, then!

Yep, you got my attention because I have plucked a few hens in my day and the stink of scalded chicken feathers would turn one against chicken.
